Simple Assault/ Harassment

State police have reported an incident of simple assault, harassment and criminal mischief involving a female, 43, and a male, 43, both of Burnt Cabins, which took place at 1:30 p.m. Aug. 4. Police said the male threw the female’s cellphone out of a moving vehicle’s window, which resulted in an argument between the two. The female then threw a rock in the male’s face, causing an abrasion. The male subsequently jabbed the female in the forehead with an index finger at a location on the 200 block of Grist Mill Road in Dublin Township.

Stolen Firearms

State police are asking anyone with information about firearms that were stolen from a Mallard Run Lane, Warfordsburg, address to contact them at 717-485- 3131. The theft occurred sometime from September 2016 through June 2017, and the firearms are the property of a 55-year-old man. The police gave no further details.

Screws Thrown On Driveway

Someone threw screws onto the driveway of 1086 Harmonia Rd., Union Township, at 9:10 p.m. June 8. The victim is a 25-year-old Warfordsburg female. State police reported that their investigation of this act of criminal mischief continues.

Two Charged With Harassment

Two 24-year- old Mc- Connellsburg women were charged with harassment following an argument Aug. 7 that turned physical at 5:45 p.m. State police said the incident took place at 422 Woodside Dr. in Mc- Connellsburg. They did not identify the two women.

Hit-and-run At MVFC Parking Lot

A 2014 Nissan Altima parked in the rear parking lot of McConnellsburg Firehall on East Maple Street was struck in the rear by an unknown vehicle Aug. 4 at 3 p.m. State police said the driver then fled the scene. They did not identify the owner of the Nissan.

Single-vehicle Accident

Lewis E Cormier, 70, Orbisonia, was transported to Fulton County Medical Center for treatment of a minor injury as a result of a single-vehicle accident Aug. 7 on Great Cove Road (Route 522) in Dublin Township. State police said Cormier was southbound at 1:14 p.m. just north of Sheepskin Hollow Road when the wet road caused him to lose control of his 2003 Chevy Venture and it traveled off the highway, rolling over multiple times into a field. Cormier was charged with a traffic violation. Hustontown EMS assisted at the accident scene.

Pickup Hits Deer

A 2015 Chevy Silverado headed east on Timber Ridge Road in Thompson Township Aug. 8 was not able to avoid hitting a whitetail that entered the roadway near Dent Road at 5:55 a.m. State police said the pickup’s front end bumper sustained minor damage and that the driver, who they did not identify, was not injured.

Charged With DUI

A Harrisonville man was charged with DUI in Franklin County after Chambersburg state police found him under the influence during a traffic stop July 26 in Antrim Township. Police said that Steven Franklin Moore, 60, was stopped at the intersection of Buchanan Trail East and Waynecastle Road at 9:37 a.m. He was taken to Chambersburg Hospital for a blood draw.

Charges Pending In Vehicle Theft

A 28-year-old Harrisonville man’s unlocked car that was parked in the front lawn at 24 Brooklyn Dr., Mc- Connellsburg, with its keys inside was stolen between 10 p.m. Aug. 6 and 4:30 p.m. Aug. 7. State police said the vehicle was later reported stolen and recovered on Aug. 10. Charges are pending in this case of vehicle theft that is still being investigated by the police.

Charges Pending In Family Dollar Theft

State police reported that charges against David Allen Davis, 26, McConnellsburg, for a crime that took place Aug. 11 at the Family Dollar store are pending. Davis entered the store located in Penn’s Village Shopping Center at 182 Buchanan Trail at 3:47 p.m. and stole merchandise. Police said drug paraphernalia was found on Davis and that he damaged a door removing him from the store.

Storage Unit Burglarized

Fishing rod cases, cleats, a skimmer, a box of chain saw chains, assorted CDs and DVDs were removed by unknown person or persons from a Keystone Property Management storage unit at 376 Grist Mill Rd., Dublin Township, between 6 p.m. Aug. 4 and 5 p.m. Aug. 7. State police said the burglar( s) entered the storage unit “by vacant unit” and that the stolen items are the property of a 59-year-old Burnt Cabins man. They ask anyone with information about this burglary to contact Trooper Davey Miller at 717-485-3131 and remind residents to lock storage units when left unattended.


State police reported that on Aug. 10 at 8:20 p.m. David Martin Shugarts, 58, Needmore, shoved Shyann Mae Bard, 20, also of Needmore, to the floor at 293 Daniel Rd., Needmore. No further details were given.

Giant Food Store Theft

State police have reported that two suspects, a male and a female, both Caucasian and in their mid-40s with brown hair, removed items from Giant Food Store in McConnellsburg without paying around 4:40 p.m. on July 26. The two fled in a maroon Chevy Impala or Malibu, police said. Anyone with information about this theft is asked to call the state police at 717-485-3131.

Leaves Scene Of Single-vehicle Accident

Tyler W. Trail, 22, Warfordsburg, has been cited with traffic violations after he left the scene of a single-vehicle accident in Union Township the morning of Aug. 31. State police said that Trail was driving eastbound on Buck Valley Road at 8:25 a.m. when he alleges a deer entered the road as he rounded a curve and he swerved his vehicle. Trail’s 2001 Subaru Forester traveled off the road, hit the end of guardrail, riding up and over it, and landed on its wheels. It then traveled about 30 feet off the road, over a hill and rolled onto its side. Trail left the accident scene and later told police that he had been wearing a seat belt and was not injured.
