Evelyn B. Kipe

Mercersburg, 86

Evelyn B. Kipe, 86, originally from Mercersburg, died peacefully July 7, 2017, at the extended care unit of Fulton County Medical Center.

Born August 11, 1930, in Peters Township she was a daughter of the late H. Fred and Ruth R. Finniff Seville.

She was a homemaker, along with taking care of her family. She loved to crochet and she entered her items in local fairs, winning many awards. She bowled in the local bowling leagues, receiving many trophies, she also served in all league offices. She was a member of the Fulton CO C.B. Club, holding the office of treasurer.

She was a teacher’s aide at Montgomery Elementary School. Later she was a food service worker at Ft. Loudon and Tuscarora Senior Centers, retiring in 2000. She was very interested in doing genealogy and was a member of Fulton County Historical Society. She enjoyed camping at Chincoteague, Va., with her husband and friends.

She was a member of Two Top Fellowship Church, Mercersburg.

Surviving are three children: Deborah R. (D. Leroy) Fagley, Harrisonville; Doreen R. Bowers, Hubert, N.C., and Darryl R. (Eugenia), McConnellsburg; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; three sisters: Phyllis M. ( Donald) Gordon, McConnellsburg; Hilda R. Carey, Greencastle; and Linda A. (Wayne) Kessinger, Chambersburg.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard E. Kipe, who died January 17, 2013; a son-in-law, Abraham Bowers; and a grandson, Zakarie Bowers.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Wednesday July 12, at Two Top Fellowship Church, Mercersburg .Pastors Paul A. Martin and Richard L. Bernhard, and David L. Fagley officiated. Burial was at Welsh Run Brethren Church Cemetery.
