Wells Tannery Homecoming The Wells Tannery Homecoming will be held July 29. The parade begins at 11 a.m. Needed are marching groups, floats, clubs, bicycles and four wheelers to be part of the parade. Call 685-3399 if interested in being in the parade. Food and entertainment will begin at noon. “Washington Slept Here” will be performing this year. Activities for children will be held as well as a car show from noon to 4 p.m. Some nice items will also be available at the Chinese auction.

Singles Social Singles social with games and cards will be held at Warfordsburg Senior Center July 22, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Meat is provided. Bring a covered dish.

Country Music Night Breezewood Volunteer Fire Co. will hold a country music night Saturday, July 22, from 7 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Enjoy an evening of 60s, 70s and 80s country music by local country band Country Tradition. Dance or sit and enjoy the music in a smoke-free environment at the firehall at 150 Municipal Road, Breezewood. Cover charge is $5. The kitchen will be open and selling refreshments. No alcoholic beverages are permitted. Proceeds benefit Breezewood Fire Co.

Sprint Cup Race Bus Trip A NASCAR Sprint Cup race bus trip to Richmond International Speedway will be held September 9 and 10. Shoot For Life The 19th annual Shoot For Life will be held July 15 at Everett Sportsmen Club. This is a 50-bird (clay pigeon) shoot. Registration is from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Food is available. Bluegrass Festival A bluegrass gospel festival will be held at Bedford Chapel Church on Rte. 643, 4570 Flickerville Road, Warfordsburg, July 15. Music starts at 5 p.m. Food stand opens at 4 p.m. Cake walks and good music. Entertainment provided by Guildford Station. Bring lawn chairs.

Niagara Falls Trip Modern Woodmen of America will sponsor a bus trip to Niagara Falls Saturday, July 29. Bus departs from McConnellsburg Courthouse at 5 a.m. with a stop at Peebles Plaza in Huntingdon if needed, for pickup. Estimated arrival in Niagara Falls is 12:15 p.m. Depart at 7 p.m. with estimated arrival back in McConnellsburg at 2 a.m. Cost is $50 per person. Call with any questions at 888-623-6719. Festival Whips Cove Church will hold its annual festival Saturday, August 5, at 5 p.m. There will be hot dogs, steamers, french fries, homemade chicken corn soup and ham and bean soup. Also available will be homemade ice cream and pies. There will be a dime pitch and dart throw. A handmade embroidered quilt will be raffled off and there will be a raffle auction of various items, plus cake walks. Various artists will perform throughout the evening. Ice Cream Festivals Fairview United Methodist Church will hold a ice cream festivals this summer July 15 and September 9. The church is located four miles north of Hustontown on North Hess Road. Homemade ice cream, soups, sandwiches, french fries and desserts will be for sale. Festival begins at 4 p.m. All are welcome.

Farm Bureau Picnic Fulton County Farm Bureau will hold its annual picnic July 16, at 1:30 p.m., at the pavilion and picnic grounds at Siloam Methodist Church, 9541 Pleasant Ridge Road, Harrisonville, about three miles south on Rte. 655 on Pleasant Ridge Road. No Free Meal No free meal will be served at St. Paul Lutheran Church during the month of July. Join again on August 9 and the second Tuesday of each month for good food and fellowship.


Exercise Classes The following classes are available at the alumni community building: Yoga – Tuesdays from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.; Zumba – Tuesdays from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.; Tai Chi – Wednesdays from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.; Pilates – Wednesdays from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Also come to the gym Monday, Wednesday and Fridays and walk inside, out of the weather, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. free. Alzheimer’s Support Group Do you have questions about caring for a loved one with dementia or Alzheimer’s? Visit the support group the third Tuesday of each month, at 6 p.m., at Fulton County Medical Center in the Pearl Room. Light supper is provided. Meetings are free. There is a speaker each month focusing on different subjects dealing with this illness. As we travel this journey together there is help here, with daily, weekly and monthly challenges for all stages.

Yoga Classes Reaching Wellness yoga classes will be held for all ages Tuesdays at 5 p.m., at the Fulton County Medical Center. Call for cost and to register at 717-860-5690.

Nutrition Class Fulton County nutrition awareness classes are held at Warfordsburg Senior Center on the third Monday of every month from 10:30 a.m. to noon. When the third Monday is a holiday, the class is held the fourth Monday. To register or sign up for lunch call 717-294-6020.

NAR-ANON Meeting The Nar-Anon Family Group is primarily for those who know or have known a feeling of desperation concerning the addiction problem of someone very near to you. We have travelled that unhappy road too, and found the answer with serenity and peace of mind. When you come into the family group you are no longer alone, but among true friends who understand your problem as few others could. Meetings have been moved from Thursday at 7 p.m. to Saturday at 7 p.m., at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, 228 North Second Street, McConnellsburg. Alcoholics Anonymous Meetings Alcoholics Anonymous meetings are held every Monday morning at 11 a.m. (even holidays) in the Pearl Room, second floor of Fulton County Medical Center, and every Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the basement of Mc- Connellsburg Alumni Building, located at 301 East Maple Street. Both are open meetings that anyone can attend.

Community Wellness/Silver Sneakers/Prime Community Wellness/Silver Sneakers/Prime will be held Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, from 6 a.m. to 7 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., and Wednesday and Friday, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., at Fulton County Medical Center cardiopulmonary rehab gym. The cost is based on insurance. Call 717-485-6149 to see if insurance provider is accepted. Community Wellness is $40/month/person or $70/month/couple.

Narcotics Anonymous Narcotics Anonymous (NA) meets three times per week in McConnellsburg. NA is a nonprofit fellowship or society of men and women for whom drugs had become a major problem. Membership is open to all drug addicts, regardless of the particular drug or combination of drugs used including alcohol. Members share their successes and challenges in overcoming active addiction and living drug-free, productive lives through the application of the principles contained within the Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions of NA. Anyone is welcome no matter what was used or how big the desire to stop using is. Meetings are held Sunday and Thursday at 7 p.m. in the Fulton County Medical Center (follow the signs at the main entrance to the Pearl Room) and Saturday at 7 p.m. at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, 228 North Second Street, McConnellsburg. Parenting Power Hour A Parenting Power Hour of learning exploring and relaxing together is held every Monday from 11 a.m. to noon at Fulton County Family Partnership, 22438 Great Cove Road (use COPE entrance). Open to any caregiver interested in improving parent/child relationships, self-awareness and communication with children all while interacting with other parents. Vendors Needed Vendors are needed for this Saturday, July 1, at the alumni Ccommunity gym in McConnellsburg for the Donald Long Memorial Car and Truck Show with vendors setting up inside the gym and outside. Scout Raffle Drawing The Scout raffle drawing to benefit Needmore Boy Scout Troop 45 and the community center will be held Saturday, July 15, at Gordon’s Cruise-in on Rte. 522 in Needmore at 7 p.m. Tickets will be on sale there from 6 p.m. until the drawing.

Meals Available Once a month volunteers pack up boxes of food to be given to anyone in need in the Waterfall area. Master Gardener Workshops Penn State Master Gardeners of Fulton County invite all to participate in the summer workshops. Pumpkin Growing Contest McConnellsburg Motor & Implement Co., 875 Lincoln Way East, McConnellsburg, is sponsoring a pumpkin growing contest during Fulton Fall Folk Festival. The Grease, Steam & Rust Assoc. will be working with them to coordinate this program. To participate seeds must come from the sponsors. Quilt Club Meeting Fulton County Quilt Club will meet Saturday, July 15, at Fulton County Library, North First Street, McConnellsburg. The block of the month is the Indiana Star. This block uses four fabrics. Cut the following in each color selected, the club will sub-cut them at the meeting. Focus fabric one: four 2 1/2-inch squares, two 5-inch squares. Focus fabric two: four 2 1/2-inch squares, two 5-inch squares. Fabric three: one 4 1/2-inch square, four 3-inch squares. Fabric four: four 3-inch squares. Bring a complete sewing kit. Anyone interested in quilting is welcome to attend.

Outdoor Education Meeting Bedford County Outdoor Education Inc, also known as Bedford County Environmental Learning Network, will hold a special general meeting open to the public in the Bedford County Conservation District conference room Thursday, July 27, at 3 p.m., to discuss the future of the organization and to elect interim officers to fill vacancies, as needed.
