Alice L. Golden

Alice L. Golden, 82, Waynesboro, died Wednesday, April 12, 2017, at York Hospital.

Born July 2, 1934, in Big Cove Tannery, she was the daughter of the late Virgil and Margaret Pittman.

She was a registered nurse for more than 41 years, starting her career at Fulton Co. Medical Center and retiring from Chambersburg Hospital in 1996.

She volunteered much of her free time to helping others, she volunteered at the Salvation Army, American Heart Association, where she would assist with blood pressure screenings at various pharmacies, and at her church when she was able, assisting with the making of Easter eggs.

She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Waynesboro.

She is survived by two sons: Dirk L. Golden (wife Tena), State Line, Pa., and Scott A. Golden, State Line, Pa.; four sisters: Mona Jean Younker, Fairfax, Va.; Helen (John) Hann, McConnellsburg; Judi (Don) Kenney, Red Lion, Pa.; Linda (Mike) Harr, Big Cove Tannery; two brothers: Jim (Stella) Pittman and Ray Pittman, all of McConnellsburg; eight grandchildren; five greatgrandchildren; and six siblings.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Golden, on December 31, 1979; brothers: Paul, Bobby, Carl and Larry; and sisters: Mary Ruth Mellott and Ethel Davis.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 18, at 1 p.m., in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Chambersburg. Rev. Murray Stevens officiated. Interment was in Parklawns Memorial Gardens.
