Dinner Auction Fulton County Historical Society will host its annual dinner auction Saturday, June 10, at Mc- Connellsburg Firehall. A silent auction will be held from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. and a barbecue chicken dinner will be served at 6 p.m., followed by the auction at 6:30 p.m. Donations are currently being accepted for both the silent and traditional auctions and are greatly appreciated. Senior Center Social Night Warfordsburg Senior Center will host a social night Saturday, April 29, at 5 p.m. Seniors 60 and older are welcome to attend and enjoy an evening of DJ music. Bring a covered dish; meat is furnished by the club. Music will start shortly after 5 p.m. For more information call 717-294-6020.

Dance/Program A free dance and history program, hosted by Warfordsburg Senior Center, will be held during May. This is a multi-generational program for adults and 12-17- year-olds. Attend some or all presentations. Dance or watch. Partners not necessary. Wear period fashion or accesories but no flip-flops, backless shoes and heels no higher than 1-1/2 inches. Schedule dates are April 24 and May 1, 15 and 22 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the center, 209 Long Hollow Road, Warfordsburg. For more information call 717-294-6020. Youth Shoot A youth 22 shoot will be held at Fulton County Pistol & Rifle Club. Open to public, ages 16 and under. Held Fridays in May (May 5, 12, 19 and 26). Registration starts at 5 p.m. and ends at 6:30 p.m. Kitchen open.

Open House Hidden Valley Horse Farm, 17739 Great Cove Road, McConnellsburg, will hold an open house Saturday, April 22, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Meet the horses, demonstrations, games, photo ops, lessons, vendors and food. Gun Bash Hancock Fire Co. will hold a gun bash Saturday, May 20. Gates open at 2 p.m. and drawings from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Cost is $20 for two. All-you-can-eat and drink. Softball Field Workday/Registration BiValley girls softball will hold a field workday Sunday, April 23, at 1 p.m. Registration for the summer season will also be held from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the fields. This is the last scheduled registration for all county girls from K4 thru ninth grade. Registration fee is $35. More information may be obtained by calling 717-372- 5922.

Flounder Tournament Fulton County Flounder Tournament will be held May 18, 19 and 20. Applications may be picked up at Peckies Body Shop or by calling Gary Fischer at 301-910-3577. All applications must be returned by April 21, 2017.

PA Youth Local Track Meet Any 9-year-old thru age 14 is eligible to participate in the PA youth local track meet Friday night, May 12, 4:30 p.m., at McConnellsburg High School track. This is a free track meet for the contestants. Winners will compete at the district level June 17 and those winners will then go on to the 2017 PA State Championship in July. Yard/Bake Sale Warfordsburg Presbyterian Church Faith Center will hold a yard and bake sale May 4 and 5, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Many great items for sale. Food stand available. More information may be obtained by calling 717-294-3028.

Historical Society Bus Trip Fulton County Historical Society will sponsor a spring bus trip April 28. Travel to Johnstown where several nationally significant events, such as the 1889 Johnstown Flood and the beginning of the steel industry, occurred. Take the opportunity to explore the history and culture from all periods of this city. Bus will leave Giant at 7:30 a.m. Itinerary includes the Johnstown Flood National Memorial, lunch on your own, a ride on the steepest incline plane in the world, the Johnstown Flood Museum, Heritage Discovery Center, family-style dinner at Slick’s Ivy Stone Restaurant in Osterburg and arrive back in Mc- Connellsburg at 7 p.m. Cost is under age 65, $67; age 65 and over, $63. Community Wellness/Silver Sneakers/Prime Community Wellness/Silver Sneakers/Prime will be held Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, from 6 a.m. to 7 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., and Wednesday and Friday, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., at Fulton County Medical Center cardiopulmonary rehab gym. The cost is based on insurance. Call 717-485-6149 to see if insurance provider is accepted. Community Wellness is $40/month/person or $70/month/couple.

Alzheimer’s Support Group Do you have questions about caring for a loved one with dementia or Alzheimer’s? Visit the support group the third Tuesday of each month, at 6 p.m., at Fulton County Medical Center in the Pearl Room. Light supper is provided. Meetings are free. There is a speaker each month focusing on different subjects dealing with this illness. As we travel this journey together there is help here, with daily, weekly and monthly challenges for all stages.

Exercise Classes The following classes are available at the alumni community building: Yoga – Tuesdays from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.; Zumba – Tuesdays from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.; Tai Chi – Wednesdays from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.; Pilates – Wednesdays from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.; and Country Heat – Saturdays from 11 a.m. to noon. Memory Care Support Learn and discuss common topics and concerns associated with all types and levels of memory loss. The support group meets the third Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m., in the Pearl Room of Fulton County Medical Center, 214 Peach Orchard Road. April’s meeting topic is Types of Memory Loss. Meetings are free with a light supper provided.

NAR-ANON Meeting The Nar-Anon Family Group is primarily for those who know or have known a feeling of desperation concerning the addiction problem of someone very near to you. We have travelled that unhappy road too, and found the answer with serenity and peace of mind. When you come into the family group you are no longer alone, but among true friends who understand your problem as few others could. We respect your confidence and anonymity as we know you will respect ours. Meetings are every Thursday at 7 p.m. at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, 228 North Second Street, McConnellsburg. Operation Save A LIfe Anyone concerned that a loved one is at risk for overdosing on heroin or a prescription pain medication should attend training on how to recognize, respond to and prevent an opioid overdose; how to administer intra-nasal Naloxone (Narcan) to reverse an overdose. The next training will be held April 26 at Fulton County Medical Center’s Pearl Room from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Registration is required for training and spaces are limited. Alcoholics Anonymous Meetings Alcoholics Anonymous meetings are held every Monday morning at 11 a.m. (even holidays) in the Pearl Room, second floor of Fulton County Medical Center, and every Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the basement of Mc- Connellsburg Alumni Building, located at 301 East Maple Street. Both are open meetings that anyone can attend.

Nutrition Class Fulton County nutrition awareness classes are held at Warfordsburg Senior Center on the third Monday of every month from 10:30 a.m. to noon. When the third Monday is a holiday, the class is held the fourth Monday. To register or sign up for lunch call 717-294-6020.

Autism Support Group Autism support group meets the last Tuesday of the month quarterly at 6 p.m. Call Lauren Everetts 717-485-6107 for details.

Yoga Classes Reaching Wellness yoga classes will be held for all ages Tuesdays at 5 p.m., at the Fulton County Medical Center. Call for cost and to register at 717-860-5690.

Narcotics Anonymous Narcotics Anonymous (NA) meets three times per week in McConnellsburg. NA is a nonprofit fellowship or society of men and women for whom drugs had become a major problem. Membership is open to all drug addicts, regardless of the particular drug or combination of drugs used including alcohol. Members share their successes and challenges in overcoming active addiction and living drug-free, productive lives through the application of the principles contained within the Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions of NA. Anyone is welcome no matter what was used or how big the desire to stop using is. Meetings are held Sunday and Thursday at 7 p.m. in the Fulton County Medical Center (follow the signs at the main entrance to the Pearl Room) and Saturday at 7 p.m. at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, 228 North Second Street, McConnellsburg. Read To Teagan Read To Teagan will be held Thursday, April 20, from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Teagan, the library dog, will be here for a special story time where children can practice their reading skills by reading to Teagan. Victory Garden Program Penn State Master Gardeners of Fulton County invite all to participate in the sixth victory garden program. Cost is $25 per person or $30 per family and program will run every Thursday, beginning April 20 thru October 2017, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. The victory garden is located on Second Street behind McConnellsburg Firehall. Learn how to and/or more effective ways to garden while sharing in the produce grown. The program has one hour of instruction and then one hour of hands-on work in the garden per week. Chain Saw Safety Workshop A chain saw safety workshop sponsored by Woodland Owners of the Southern Alleghenies will be held Saturday, April 29, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with training led by Tony Tresselt. Meet at Tenley Park in Everett. Bring own saw and personal protective equipment as well as lunch and water. Cost is $30 for WOSA members and $35 for non-members. Blueberry Sale Fulton County 4-H clubs are holding a blueberry sale. Ten-pound boxes of large, clean blueberries for $27. Delivery is Tuesday, June 27. Contact a 4-H member or Penn State Extension Office at 717-325-4871 to place order. Last day for orders is May 24.

Book, Plant, Bake Sale North End Garden Club and Fulton County Library will hold a book, plant, bake sale and light lunch at the library May 19 and 20. Needed are gently used books, plants and baked goods. Proceeds benefit the library.

Bulky Waste Days Ayr and Todd townships and Mc- Connellsburg Borough will hold spring bulky waste days Friday, April 28, and Saturday, April 29. McConnellsburg Borough will be curbside with pickup Friday, April 28. A detailed listing will appear in the “News” with times of the two-day event and what is and isn’t acceptable for bulky waste days.

Parenting Power Hour A Parenting Power Hour of learning exploring and relaxing together is held every Monday from 11 a.m. to noon at Fulton County Family Partnership, 22438 Great Cove Road (use COPE entrance). Open to any caregiver interested in improving parent/child relationships, self-awareness and communication with children all while interacting with other parents. Spring Dinner Fulton County Democratic Committee will hold its spring dinner Saturday, April 29, at 6:30 p.m., at Hustontown Firehall. Tickets are $15 for adults, $7.50 for children ages 5-10 and under 5 are free. Collect for the meal at the door.

Chicken BBQ A chicken barbecue will be held April 29 from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., or until sold out at Warfordsburg Presbyterian Church Faith Center. Eat-in or carryouts. Cost is $7 for half chicken or $9 per meal, which includes half chicken, scalloped potatoes, baked beans, roll and cake. Proceeds benefit deacons’ local mission. Benefit Bingo A benefit bingo will be held Sunday, May 7 for David Welsh, who is battling melanoma, and the late Chad Strait, at McConnellsburg Firehall. Doors open at 11 a.m., bingo begins at 1 p.m. Five special games and 20 regular games. Prizes are Lularoe and cash. Also a silent auction, raffles and lots of food.

Bingo The ARC of Franklin-Fulton counties will hold a bingo Sunday, April 30, at the Chambersburg VFW, 747 South Fourth St. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. Lunch served at noon, with bingo beginning at 1:30 p.m. Ticket is $25 and includes lunch, door prizes and 24 regular games. SF Bingo Southern Fulton PTA will hold a bingo April 23. Doors open at noon and bingo at 2 p.m., at Needmore Firehall. Concessions available. Historical Society Dinner/Meeting Fulton County Historical Society’s annual dinner and meeting will be held Saturday, April 29, at 6 p.m., at McConnellsburg Firehall. Featured speaker will be Dane “Butch” Seiders, who will be talking about the artwork of the late local artist Mark Twain Noe. Noe, who painted many local scenes, including some featuring turkeys, was also featured artist for the National Wild Turkey Federation. Cost for this family-oriented event is $15 per adult, $7.50 for children ages 6-12, and free for children under 5 years of age.
