Yard Sale A community-wide yard sale will be held Friday, April 22, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., at Crossroads Bible Church, formerly Heartland Hall, Business Route 220, Bedford. Bake sale, food and refreshments. All proceeds will support Crossroad’s youth group and youth missions.

Yard Sale Warfordsburg Presbyterian Church will hold a yard sale Thursday, May 5 and Friday, May 6, at 12941 Buck Valley Road, Warfordsburg. Lunch will be served, along with baked goods and soup for sale from 8:30 a.m. until 4 p.m.

State Forest Workday On Saturday, April 23, Friends Group of Buchanan State Forest will have a workday cleaning up shared trails at Sideling Hill. Meet at 9 a.m., behind the picnic area on Bark Road. Bring water, bag lunch, hand tools and safety clothing/shoes. More information may be obtained by calling 814-977-6205.

Wild Edible Walk/Farm Tour Farm of Peace, 1212 Haven Lane, Warfordsburg, will hold a wild edible walk and farm tour Saturday, April 23, from 11 a.m .to 4 p.m. Begin the day at 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. to meet the new manager and learn about organic gardening techniques by volunteering in the garden for a couple hours. Stay for a picnic lunch (bring your own) and then take the wild edible tour from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. to learn about common edibles found in many lawns and gardens. Youth Shoot Fulton County Pistol and Rifle Club will hold a .22 and shotgun youth shoot May 8, 13, 20 and 27 at 5:30 p.m. Registration is from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Open to all youths ages 16 and under. Kitchen is open during this event.

Road Trip Bus Tour The Lincoln Highway Heritage Corridor is planning a highway and road trip bus tour on June 8 with pickups at Gateway Travel Plaza, Breezewood and Weis Market, Bedford. Cost is $65 which includes deluxe motor coach, admission and private tour of the Lincoln Highway Experience Museum, lunch at the Historic Ramada Inn and admission to St. Vincent Theatre Production of “Route 66.” Call 724- 879-4241 to reserve a seat or register online at www.LHHC.org, at LHHC special events under the gift shop tab.

Concert Enjoy an evening with “Take Two” in concert at Warfordsburg Senior Center Thursday, May 5. Cost is $12 per ticket, which includes a turkey dinner at 5 p.m., and concert at 6 p.m. Tickets available now until April 30 at the center or call 717-294-6020. Limited seating so buy early. Tickets not sold at the door that night.

Yard Sale A yard sale will be held at Warfordsburg Senior Center May 19 and 20, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Inside spaces are available at $10 per table inside or $5 a space for a table. Outside spaces also available for $5 with own table. Setup is Wednesday, May 18, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., and takedown is Friday, May 20, from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. For more information call 717-294-6020.

Dodge For Danny Local Southern Fulton High School senior Owen Hawkins will host a dodgeball tournament to benefit the family of Danny Crouse, a PA Turnpike employee who was shot and killed in a robbery March 20. The tournament will be held Saturday, April 23, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., at Southern Fulton High School. Entry fee is $30 per team, with six players per team. Donations will be accepted at the door. Gelvin Memorial Tournament The second annual Chad Gelvin co-ed memorial softball tournament will be held Saturday, May 14, at 8 a.m., at Mercersburg softball complex. Entry fee is $200 plus balls. There will also be a home run derby with a cost of $10 to enter. Bus Trip Modern Woodmen of America Camp 7948 will sponsor a bus trip to New York City Saturday, May 7. The bus departs from McConnellsburg Courthouse at 6 a.m. A stop for breakfast will be made. Depart New York City at 6 p.m., with a stop halfway home for supper. Estimated arrival back is 11:30 p.m. Cost for transportation and a buffet breakfast is adults $50 and children under 12, $45. Operation Save A Life Training Anyone concerned that a loved one is at risk for overdosing on heroin or a prescription pain medication should attend the upcoming trainings. Participants will learn opioid t ypes, how to recognize, respond to and prevent an opioid overdose and how to administer intra nasal Naloxone. Trainings will be held April 25 at Warfordsburg Presbyterian Church from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.; May 26 at Forbes Road High School from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.; and June 30 at Fulton County Medical Center Pearl Room, from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Registration is reqiured and space is limited. Yoga Classes Reaching Wellness yoga classes will be held for all ages Wednesdays at 5 p.m., at the Fulton County Medical Center. Call for cost and to register at 717-485-4492.

Alcoholics Anonymous Meetings Alcoholics Anonymous meetings are held every Monday morning at 11 a.m. (even holidays) in the Pearl Room, second floor of Fulton County Medical Center, and every Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the basement of McConnellsburg Alumni Building, located at 301 East Maple Street. Both are open meetings that anyone can attend.

Diabetes Education Classes Fulton County Medical Center Diabetes Education will hold group classes April 26 and May 3, from 10 a.m. to noon, in the Pearl Room. A referral from a doctor is required, plus a short visit before the first class. Please check with insurance, it is often covered. More information may be obtained by calling Gwen at 717-485-6165.

Alzheimer’s Support Group Do you have questions about caring for a loved one with dementia or Alzheimer’s? Visit the support group the third Tuesday of each month, at 6 p.m., at Fulton County Medical Center in the Pearl Room. Light supper is provided. Meetings are free. There is a speaker each month focusing on different subjects dealing with this illness. As we travel this journey together there is help here, with daily, weekly and monthly challenges for all stages.

Community Wellness/Silver Sneakers/Prime Community Wellness/Silver Sneakers/Prime will be held Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, from 6 a.m. to 7 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., and Wednesday and Friday, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., at Fulton County Medical Center cardiopulmonary rehab gym. The cost is based on insurance. Call 717-485-6149 to see if insurance provider is accepted. Community Wellness is $40/month/person or $70/month/couple.

Nutrition Class Fulton County nutrition awareness classes are held at Warfordsburg Senior Center on the third Monday of every month from 10:30 a.m. to noon. When the third Monday is a holiday, the class is held the fourth Monday. To register or sign up for lunch call 717-294-6020.

Narcotics Anonymous Narcotics Anonymous (NA) meets three times per week in McConnellsburg. NA is a nonprofit fellowship or society of men and women for whom drugs had become a major problem. Membership is open to all drug addicts, regardless of the particular drug or combination of drugs used including alcohol. Members share their successes and challenges in overcoming active addiction and living drug-free, productive lives through the application of the principles contained within the Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions of NA. Anyone is welcome no matter what was used or how big the desire to stop using is. Meetings are held Sunday and Thursday at 7 p.m. in the Fulton County Medical Center Pearl Room and Saturday at 7 p.m. at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, 228 North Second Street, Mc- Connellsburg. Chicken Barbecue McConnellsburg Fire Co. will hold a chicken barbecue Sunday, April 24, at 11 a.m. Eat at firehall or takeout. Cost is $6 per half or $8 per meal.

Potpie Supper A ham and chicken potpie supper will be held April 23, from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., at Orchard Ridge Church, Hancock. Sponsored by the women’s ministry. More information may be obtained by calling 301-678-5423.

Spring Tea Warfordsburg Senior Center will hold a spring tea Sunday, May 15, at 1 p.m. Tickets are $12 and to be purchased by May 8. No tickets will be sold at the door. For more information call 717-294-6020.

Meals Available Once a month volunteers pack up boxes of food to be given to anyone in need in the Waterfall area. Ice Cream Social Fulton Fatherhood invites all for a fun evening for the whole family. Meet at the Fulton Theatre April 22, at 7 p.m. for a sweet treat and the movie, “Ice Age 4: Continental Drift.” RSVP at 717-485-6767, Ext. 215.

Mother’s Day Smorgasbord Hustontown Area Volunteer Fire Co. will hold the annual Mother’s Day smorgasbord May 8.

Free Lunch The first Friday of every month a free and nutritious lunch is served in the Faith & Life Center at Mc- Connellsburg United Methodist Church on the courthouse square from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

HAVFCO Fundraiser Hustontown Area Volunteer Fire Co. will hold a woodcraft night and girls timeout fundraiser May 1, with proceeds benefitting the fire company. Doors open at 1:30 p.m. and event will be held from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Cost is $40 per craft with three to choose from. For advance tickets call 987-3108, leave phone number and message.

Book Sale A benefit book sale will be held May 6-8 with more than 60,000 new and used books of all types, plus CDs, DVDs, puzzles, etc., at bargain prices at the 32nd annual Friends of Legal Services book sale. The event will be held at Laird Hall on the Wilson College campus in Chambersburg. A silent auction for rare books will beheld May 6 and 7. Hours are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, May 6; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, May 7; and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, May 8.

Blueberry Sale Fulton County 4-H clubs are selling 10- pound boxes of large, clean blueberries for $27. Delivery date is Monday, June 27. Contact any 4-H member or Penn State Extension Office at 717-325-4870 to place an order. Last day to place orders will be May 27.

Cemetery Cleanup Day Asbury Cemetery Association will hold a cleanup day May 4 at 5 p.m., with a raindate of May 5. All items must be removed from the ground for mowing April 1 through October 15. All grave decorations must be attached to the stone. Decorations may be placed on graves only on the following holidays: Easter, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Memorial Day and Christmas. All items must be removed seven days following the before-mentioned holidays. The association has the authority to remove any decorations in violation of the regulations.

Art Exhibit Generations Art Exhibit, a celebration of Fulton County Arts, will be at Antietam Ironworks, 201 Lincoln Way West, McConnellsburg (second story). Opening reception will be Friday, May 20, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Gallery dates are Fridays, May 20, 27 and June 4 and 11, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.; Saturdays, May 21 and 28 and June 5 and 12, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and Sundays, May 22 and 23 and June 6 and 13, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Victory Garden Program The 2016 Victory Garden Program located at Second Street behind McConnellsburg Firehall will meet every Thursday beginning April 21 through end of September, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. The program consists of one hour of instruction and one hour of hands-on work/week. Members receive produce that is grown. Cost is $25/person or $30 for a family. Succulents Workshop A succulents workshop will be held Saturday, June 4, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., at the extension office, 610 East North Street, McConnellsburg. Workshop is for those who want to learn about planting succulents. For those who made a hypertufa pot April 2, bring pot and plant it. All others bring a flowerpot to plant (no more than 12 inches in diameter. All potting soil and plants will be provided. Cost is $20/person and money must accompany reservation. Hall Of Fame Inducation Names Needed Please send any recommendations for the 2018 Hall of Fame induction to Kathy Kendall, 637 North Gordon Lane, Harrisonville, PA 17228. Please include a short essay of why they should be considered for induction and include contact information. All recommendations should be mailed by May 31, 2016.

ABATE Meeting Alliance of Bikers Aimed Toward Education, ABATE, meets the first Sunday of the month behind the Mountain House Bar, at 1 p.m., unless otherwise scheduled.
