Walk, Run, Play The alumni community building gym is open for free from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. If school closes because of the weather, walking will be cancelled. Walking will be every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, with the last day to be determined when the weather gets better. Park in the parking lot alongside the building and sign in. Toy, Train, Doll Show A toy, train and doll show, sponsored by Cumberland Valley Model Railroad Club and Sandy and Billy’s Toybox, will be held Sunday, February 28, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., with early birds at 8 a.m., at Scotland Community Center, 3832 Main Street, Scotland. Admission is $2.50; early birds $5; and under 12 are free. Show will include trains and related items, NASCAR, Winross, various old and collectible toys, model kits, Barbies, Hot Wheels, Matchbox and much more.

Bus Trip Southern Fulton Athletic Association will sponsor a bus trip to Nemacolin Woodlands and Lady Luck Casino Saturday, April 2. Bus will leave the Southern Fulton High School at 11:30 a.m. and return at approximately 8 p.m. Cost is $50 per person and includes a minimum of $20 free slot play and $10 food voucher. Make checks payable to Southern Fulton Athletic Association. Must be 21 years of age. Door prizes and light snacks provided. Soccer Sign-ups Spring 2016 soccer sign-ups for WAYS (Warfordsburg Area Youth Soccer) will be held now through March 1 for kids going into kindergarten this fall up through sixth grade. Bus Trip Sideling Hill Methodist Charge will sponsor a Sight and Sound bus trip to see “Samson” Saturday, March 19. Show starts at 11 a.m. A stop will be made after the show at Yoder’s Family Restaurant and at the Flower and Home Marketplace. Price includes bus trip, show and buffet meal with gratuity. Softball Registration Bi-Valley girls softball will hold registration for the summer 2016 season Friday, February 19, and March 4, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., at the alumni building. Shooting Matches Hustontown Area Volunteer Fire Co. will hold shooting matches February 20 and March 5 at 1 p.m. Shells furnished and prizes awarded.

Little League Registration Fulton County Little League will hold open registration for the 2016 season at the Little League clubhouse at Lions Community Park in McConnellsburg. Dates are Saturday, February 13, from 9 a.m. to noon, and Saturday, February 20, from 9 a.m. to noon. Boys and girls can register for T-Ball (5-6 years), Farm League (7-8 years) and Little League (9-12 years). First-year players should bring a copy of birth certificate. Alcoholics Anonymous Meetings Alcoholics Anonymous meetings are held every Monday morning at 11 a.m. (even holidays) in the Pearl Room, second floor of Fulton County Medical Center, and every Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the basement of McConnellsburg Alumni Building, located at 301 East Maple Street. Both are open meetings that anyone can attend.

Narcotics Anonymous Narcotics Anonymous (NA) meets three times per week in McConnellsburg. NA is a nonprofit fellowship or society of men and women for whom drugs had become a major problem. Membership is open to all drug addicts, regardless of the particular drug or combination of drugs used including alcohol. Members share their successes and challenges in overcoming active addiction and living drug-free, productive lives through the application of the principles contained within the Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions of NA. Anyone is welcome no matter what was used or how big the desire to stop using is. Meetings are held Sunday and Thursday at 7 p.m. in the Fulton County Medical Center Pearl Room and Saturday at 7 p.m. at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, 228 North Second Street, Mc- Connellsburg. Sauerkraut Supper A pork and sauerkraut supper will be held Saturday, March 5, from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., at Fort Loudon Community Center. The buffet style all-you-care-toeat menu will consist of pork, hot dogs, sauerkraut, mashed potatoes, peas, applesauce, bread, beverages and desserts. The price for adult meals is $8, children 6-12 are $5, under 6 are free. Meal can be eaten in or carried out. Proceeds benefit community projects of Fort Loudon Ruritan Club. The center is located between Hawbaker Drive and Mullen streets.

Soup Night McConnellsburg United Presbyterian Church will hold soup night through March 16, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. If Central Fulton School District has early dismissal or is closed due to weather, soup night will be cancelled.

Pork And Sauerkraut Dinner St. Paul UCC, 4822 Steele Ave., Lemasters, will hold a pork and sauerkraut dinner Friday, February 19, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Served will be pork and sauerkraut, mashed potatoes and shanty beans. Proceeds by donation benefit church ministries.

Pancake/Sausage Breakfast A pancake and sausage breakfast will be held Saturday, February 20, at Asbury United Methodist Church, 7404 Lincoln Highway, Harrisonville, from 6:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. Served will be sausage, regular, buckwheat and blueberry pancakes, puddin’ meat, homemade apple butter, coffee, tea and juice. Donations are appreciated.

Free Lunch The first Friday of every month a free and nutritious lunch is served in the Faith & Life Center at Mc- Connellsburg United Methodist Church on the courthouse square from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Meals Available Once a month volunteers pack up boxes of food to be given to anyone in need in the Waterfall area. Pickup is at Center United Methodist Church community building on Doran Road, Waterfall. More information may be obtained by calling 814-685-3780. Calls will be kept strictly confidential.

Pasta Bake/Silent Auction A silent auction and pasta bake will be held Saturday, February 27, from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., at McConnellsburg United Methodist Church. This is a youth fundraiser event.

Free Meal A free meal will be served the second Tuesday of each month at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 220 North Third Street. Please join in for good fellowship.


Woodland Owners Conference Woodland Owners of the Southern Alleghenies will hold its 19th annual conference, “What’s Living In Your Woods?” at Bedford Elks Country Club, from 8:30 a.m.. to 4:30 p.m., Saturday, March 12, 2016, in Bedford. Cost of the conference is $20 for members and $30 for nonmembers and includes a full buffet hot lunch. Participants will have the chance to win door prizes and silent auction items. Foresters and loggers who attend the entire program can apply for SFI credits, pesticide applicator credits and possibly SAF credits. Hunter-Trapper Education The Hunter-Trapper education course will be held Saturday, March 19, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Fulton County Pistol and Rifle Club. Preregistration is required. McCbg. Preschool Registration McConnellsburg High School preschool program is tentatively set for March 15 through May 19. Cost is $15 per child or $25 for two children in the family. Child needs to be potty trained and 3-5 years old. If in K-4 child is not eligible. The program is held at Mc- Connellsburg Elementary School. Hall Of Fame Induction Fulton County All Sports Hall of Fame induction for 2016 will be held Friday, April 1, at Mc- Connellsburg Alumni and Friends building, with doors opening at 5 p.m. and dinner served at 6 p.m. Cost is $25 per person. The 1991 McConnellsburg Lady Spartan State Class A basketball champions will be inducted at that time. Soccer Referee Classes McConnellsburg Youth Soccer Club will host soccer referee training classes March 5 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., March 6 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and March 6 from 10 to a.m. 4 p.m., at McConnellsburg Elementary School. CF Registration Central Fulton School District will hold registration for the 2016-2017 school year Thursday, March 3; Friday, March 4; and Monday, March 7. Children who will be age 4 on or before the first day of school (week of August 22) are eligible for the K4 program, and children who will be age 5 on or before the first day of school are eligible for the K5 kindergarten program. Cemetery Assoc. Meeting Whips Cove Cemetery Association will hold its annual meeting at Whips Cove Church Friday, February 26, at 7 p.m., in the church basement. All members are encouraged to attend.

Quilt Club Meeting Fulton County Quilt Club will meet Saturday, February 20, at 10 a.m., in the community room of Fulton County Library on North First Street in McConnellsburg. There will be a class on easy, perfect flying geese units and piecing blocks for next year’s raffle quilt will begin. Please bring sewing machines, neutral thread, 12-inch quilters rule and sewing supplies. Lunch will be ordered in or bring your own. All are welcome.

Cemetery Assoc. Meeting Wells Valley Presbyterian Cemetery Association will hold its annual meeting Monday, February 22, at 7 p.m., at the home of Ronnie Eichelberger.

Friends Of Buchanan Forest Meeting Friends of Buchanan State Forest/Sideling Hill and Martin Hill Tracts will meet the first Tuesday of each month. The March 1 meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m., at the DCNR maintenance building, 3017 Lincoln Highway, Harrisonville, five miles east of Breezewood (top of mountain). Plans will be made for the trails on Sideling Hill and Martin Hill. Note: Register for the one-day training for trail maintenance, Saturday, February 27, at Hoss’s in Bedford.
