Three Injured In Interstate Crash

Three Kane, Pa., residents suffered injuries ranging from minor to moderate during a single-vehicle accident along Interstate 70 last Wednesday afternoon.

Pennsylvania State Police in McConnellsburg reported the 5:19 p.m. accident in Brush Creek Township occurred when 38-year-old January D. Baker was travelling too fast for the wet roadway conditions and lost control of her eastbound 2012 Jeep Liberty. The vehicle slid across the road and struck a concrete barrier in the median with its front end.

Baker and her passengers, who included an 8-year-old boy and a 4-year-old girl, were transported by Raystown EMS for treatment at UPMC Bedford. State police were also assisted on the scene by Fischer’s Towing. Baker will be cited by state police through the office of Magisterial District Judge Tamela Heming for failure to drive on roadways laned for traffic.

Grinch Steals Christmas Cash

Thirty-year- old Mark Joseph Mazzullo Jr. of McConnellsburg has been accused of stealing a sizeable amount of cash from Christmas cards at a McConnellsburg home on Christmas Eve, state police reported. Mazzullo allegedly stole $2,400 in cash from Christmas cards and envelopes at 327 Buchanan Trail between 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Victims are an 81-year-old female and a 66-year-old male, both of McConnellsburg.

Mazzullo, state police said, was charged with theft by unlawful taking. He was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Devin Horne and remanded to the Franklin County Jail in lieu of $24,000 bail.

Cash Stolen

Sixty dollars in cash was stolen from a vehicle parked at the Sideling Hill turnpike plaza located at 3744 North Hess Road, Taylor Township, between 11 p.m. on December 23 and 1 a.m. on December 24. Thieves gained access to the vehicle by breaking a rear window, state police said. Victim is a 49-yearold McConnellsburg man. Police Investigate DUI Crash

Pennsylvania State Police in McConnellsburg investigated a driving-under-the-influence related accident at 2435 South Madden Road in Taylor Township Christmas Eve. Reports indicate 52- year-old Tim Lewis Fix of Hustontown was negotiating a left-hand turn when his 2003 Chevrolet Silverado went off the roadway at 3:10 p.m. and struck a telephone pole, severing it in half. Fix is accused of leaving the scene of the accident but was located shortly later under the influence of alcohol, police said. Fix reportedly faces charges of driving under the influence, leaving the scene of an accident and other traffic violations.

Mischief Reported

The driver’s side mirror of a vehicle parked at 212 Lincoln Way East, McConnellsburg, was damaged between 3:30 p.m. on December 21 and 7:30 a.m. on December 22. Victim is a 56-year-old Mc- Connellsburg woman. Anyone having further information pertinent to this case of criminal mischief should contact state police Trooper Lech at 717-485-3131.
