Open Stage Hustontown Volunteer Fire Co. will hold an open stage Saturday, July 25, at 6 p.m. Kitchen opens at 5 p.m. Free admission.

Social Night Warfordsburg Senior Center will host a social night Saturday, July 25. Seniors 60 and older are welcome to attend and enjoy an evening of music with the DJs Barb and Forrest. Bring a covered dish with meat furnished by the club. Meal is at 5 p.m. Music will start shortly after. For more information call 717-294-6020.

Kids Event “For The Kids” community event will be held August 1, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at Alumni & Friends building, McConnellsburg. Free games, prizes, meal and fun for all. Also raffles, dunk tank and bouncy house.

Wells Tannery Homecoming The Wells Tannery Homecoming will be held July 25. Chicken barbecue and hot roast beef sandwiches top the menu to be served starting at noon, as well as homemade pie and cake. A car show will be held from noon to 4 p.m. Music will be provided by Dick Mc- Connell starting at noon and Chris Woodward and Shindiggin at 2 p.m. The parade starts at 11 a.m., and more participants are needed. 5K Run/Walk Online registraiton forms are availablae for the third annual 5K run/walk sponsored by Southern Huntingdon Library Saturday, August 15. Proceeds benefit the allvolunteer library. More information at 814-448-0040 or 814-447- 0065.

Auction An auction will be held Thursday, August 6, at 4:30 p.m., at Hustontown Senior Center, 387 Cole Road, Hustontown. Boxes yet to be unpacked. Gift certificates for restaurants, services, products, complete vehicle detail and much, much more. Lunch stand reserved by senior citizens. Lots of homemade goodies.

Car Show Calvary Independent Baptist Church, 140 Mc- Governs Lane, McConnellsburg, will hold a car show August 8, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. All types of cars, trucks, tractors, ATVs and 4-wheelers will be on display. Special music, games and petting zoo for the children. Food provided. by C.I.B.C.

Hope And Healing Fulton County Family Partnership will hold an evening of “Hope and Healing” for the community July 27 at 7 p.m. at Lions Club Park in McConnellsburg. all members of the community are invited to attend and share in the evening words of comfort and spiritual healing from local church leaders. Art In The Park Create your own piece of the park to take home at Art In The Park at Cowans Gap State Park July 25, August 15 and October 3, at 11 a.m. Meet at the Brightbill Interpretive Center. Join Nancy Mendes to create a landscape of the park. A donation of $25 is requested for participation in these events. Please contact the park office to register.

Summer Lunch/Breakfast Join in this summer for lunch and breakfast at Central Fulton High School cafeteria. Free, nutritionally balanced lunch and breakfast, for all children 18 years and under regardless of income status. No registration or reservations required. Walk-ins are welcome. Historical Society Museum Open Fulton County Historical Society’s Fulton House Museum will be open every Friday, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., through August 28. On display will be paintings by Charles Walker and also the permanent exhibits of chairs, guns, furniture, quilts, etc., all made by local craftsmen from long ago. There is no admission charge, but donations are greatly appreciated.

Gowns Accepted Do you have a white wedding or prom gown you do not know what to do with? The LDS chapel will hold a compassionate service project this fall using the material from these gowns to make burial clothing for infants which will be available to all parents who lose a child. Anyone wishing to donate a gown or skills as a seamtress should call or text 717-485-1119.

Education/Career Services Available Standard of Living Augmentation (SOLA) Inc. will offer education and career services on a weekly basis in Fulton County to job seekers with disabilities, ex-offenders, veterans and those struggling with drug addiction. SOLA will have hours at Fulton County Library in McConnellsburg every Monday between 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. SOLA provides a free services including career counseling; job search strategies; access to computer, Internet, phone, fax and copier; resume writing; and interview workshops. SOLA also offers financial management, access to community resources, textbooks and work tools and career development and job leads.

No Free Meal There will be no free meal at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church during the month of July. Join again the second Tuesday of each month in August when the program will return.

Free Lunch The first Friday of every month a free and nutritious lunch is served in the Faith & Life Center at Mc- Connellsburg United Methodist Church on the courthouse square from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Festival Whips Cove Church will hold its annual festival Saturday, August 1, at 5 p.m. Entertainment by Dale Wigfield and Friends. Ice Cream Festival Siloam United Methodist Church, Harrisonville, will hold an ice cream festival August 8, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Menu includes sandwiches, soups, pies and more than a dozen varieties of homemade ice cream. Live music by the Country Strings. Church is located three miles south of Harrisonville on Route 655.

Festival Laurel Ridge Christian Church festival will be held August 8 at 5 p.m. There will be homemade ice cream, soups, sandwiches, french fries, baked goods and soda. There will be special music by Dan Meredith and games/activities for the children. Everyone is welcome.

Ice Cream Festival Fairview United Methodist Church will hold its ice cream festival September 12. The church is located four miles north of Hustontown on North Hess Road. Homemade ice cream, soups, sandwiches, french fries and dessert will be available for sale. Festivals begin at 4 p.m. Remember: Due to the turnpike bridge construction a detour is in effect on North Hess Road.

HEALTH

Nar Anon Nar Anon, a support group for families who are dealing with loved ones who have addiction issues, will be changing their meeting dates for the summer. There will be only one monthly meeting for the months of July and August. The meeting dates are Monday, July 13, and Monday, August 17. Weekly meetings will resume on September 14. Narcotics Anonymous Narcotics Anonymous will meet at 7 p.m. Sunday nights in Fulton County Medical Center in the Pearl Room. NA is a nonprofit fellowship or society of men and women for whom drugs had become a major problem. Membership is open to all drug addicts, regardless of the particular drug or combination of drugs used (including alcohol). Anyone is welcome. Rhodes Reunion The descendants of John Rhodes and his wives, Margaret and Alice, will hold their annual reunion Sunday, August 2, at Buchanan’s Birth Place near Mercersburg. Meal at noon. Bring a covered dish and grab bags for an adult and child.

RELIGION

Homecoming Amaranth Church of the Brethren, 2709 McKee’s Gap Road, Warfordsburg, off Interstate 70, will hold its annual homecoming service Sunday, July 26, at 10:15 a.m., with Bobby Youst as speaker, along with special music. Camp Meeting Crystal Spring Camp Meeting begins Friday, August 7, through August 16. Nightly services begin at 7:30 p.m., with song leader Dan Meredith and evangelistic services under the leadership of Rev. Carl Schmidt (August 7-11), and Pastor Mark Lingenfelter (August 12-16). Special nightly music is also scheduled. Sunday concerts are at 2:30 p.m. August 9: Second Chances from Hagerstown; and August 16: Michelle Layton of Breezewood. Daily activities for all ages. Services For Deaf Worship services for the deaf will be held at 10 a.m. August 16 at McConnellsburg United Presbyterian Church. A professional signing interpreter has been hired through Deafnet of Hagerstown to interpret the entire service from announcements to hymns. A short portion of the service will be dedicated to teaching signs to the congregation. This ministry has been well accepted in Fulton County and current plans are to continue the services every third Sunday of each month.

MEETINGS

Historical Society Meeting Fulton County Historical summer membership meeting will be held Saturday, July 25, 2015, at McConnellsburg Presbyterian Church, 116 South Second Street, McConnellsburg. Ron Morgan, of Roberstdale, will be the featured speaker. He is one of the founders and 25-year president of the nonprofit Broad Top Coal Miners Historical Society.
