Racing Roundup

By Brad Vores

Mike Wagner has been sitting on top of the 410 Sprint car points most of the season at Port Royal Speedway.

But prior to Saturday night, the Harrisonville driver had yet to score a feature win.

But Wagner added his name to the winners list this season with a hard-fought win Saturday after holding back repeated efforts from his son, Logan, to score his 11th career track win.

Wagner started on the front row but the race, which went nonstop after a few restarts on Lap 1, was thrilling, with Wagner taking the win ahead of sixth-starting Greg Hodnett when the checkered flag flew.

Logan Wagner, in his first night driving a car owned by Wayne Dadetto, scored a career best third-place finish. Wagner was not scheduled to race in the Robert Salathe Sprint, so Dadetto gave him a chance to run his car and he earned a good finish.

Fourth went to Blane Heimbach over Doug Esh.

Jeff Miller led all 20 laps to become the 12th different winner in as many Late Model races this season with a win over Justin Kann, Brett Schadel, Patrick Bryner and Tim Wilson.

Brent Marks and Greg Hodnett split Twin 20s for 410 Sprints Friday at Williams Grove Speedway.

Marks started on the front row of race one and took the win over Gerard McIntyre, Hodnett, Pat Cannon and Lance Dewease.

Hodnett scored an impressive win in the second main over Don Kreitz, Stevie Smith, Dewease and Adrian Shaffer.

Danny Dietrich won his third 410 Sprint Car Main Saturday at Lincoln Speedway with a late race pass on Freddie Rahmer to steal the show. Dietrich took the win with Rahmer, Mike Bittinger, Robbie Kendall and Kyle Moody the top-five finishers.

Bobby Hockenberry raced to his second Super Sportsman win of the season in Saturday night action at Williams Grove Speedway over Tony Jackson, Russ Mitten, Rich Eichelberger and Mike Enders.

Randy Croop led all 20 laps of the 358 Late Model main for his second win of the season, finishing ahead of 12th starter Charlie Schaffer, Cam Zeigler, Jake Jones and Sam Rial.

With his seventh-place finish, Hagerstown driver Alan Sagi clinched his first career Williams Grove Speedway 358 Late Model track championship driving for car owner Dan Little. It was Sagi’s first season of competition at the track.

Kyle Hardy scored backto back wins and third in the last month in Late Model racing at Hagerstown Speedway Saturday night. Hardy went out front early in the 25-lap event and went onto score the win, with Andy Anderson, Trever Feathers, Marvin Winters and Roy Deese Jr. following in the top five. Frankie Plessinger was scored 12th.

Chad Myers recorded his third Late Model Sportsman feature win after a wild late race incident involved leaders Terry Flaherty and Justin Weaver.

Myers took the win over Flaherty, Scott Palmer, Mike Walls and Bobby Beard.

Mike Corbin won his 11th Pure Stock feature of the year over Jamie Zentmyer and Dickie Tharp.

Cody Keller ended the domination by Mark Smith Saturday night at Selinsgrove Speedway in 360 Sprint car action. Smith, Jason Shultz, TJ Stutts and Larry Kelleher followed.

Coleby Frye led all 25 laps to pick up his first Late Model win of the year over Jeff Rine, Dylan Yoder, Jim Yoder and Dave Zona.

Seth Kearchner has been a consistent top-five finisher all season at Trail-Way Speedway and finally scored his first career win Friday over Robbie Kendall, Kevin Nouse, Jeff Halligan and Isaac Sneeringer.

Larry Baer was the 358 Late Model winner Saturday at Susquehanna Speedway over Randy Christine Jr., Chase Billet, Eric Irvin and Devin Hart.

Colby Dice picked up the 305 Sprint car win over Mike Wagner II, Anthony Fiore, Kyle Lloyd and Ken Duke. It was Wagner’s third straight runner-up finish in his 305 sprinter.

Matt Sponaugle won his first 25-lap Late Model feature of the season Friday at Bedford Speedway.

Sponaugle’s win ended a two-year slump as he scored the checkers over Chuck Clise, Mike Altobelli, Jr., DJ Troutman and Justin Kann.

Brian Lowery won the Limited Late Model Main over Robbie Black and Rick Singleton.

The Wagner brothers competed Friday night at Lernerville Speedway and set the pace from the front row for the feature. Logan would finish third in the RG3 sprinter, while Mike II took a fifth-lace finish in just his second 410 start at the track.

Darrell Lanigan won the World of Outlaws Late Model Main Saturday at Winchester Speedway over Tim Mc- Creadie, Dan Stone, Rick Eckert and Kenny Pettyjohn.

And to round out the weekend, it was good to be a Wagner as Mike II picked up the Laurel Highlands 305 Sprint car win Sunday night at Bedford Speedway. After three straight runner-up finishes, he finally returned to victory lane.
