Allan D. Hixon, Sr.
Allan D. Hixon, Sr., age 80 of Warfordsburg, died Monday August 18, 2014 at his home.
Born May 20, 1934 in Amaranth, PA, he was the son of the late Charles Calvin and Francina Whitfield Hixon.
He was a veteran serving in the U.S. Army 1956-1958.
He was retired from Prowler Fleetwood Industries in Hancock, MD.
He was a Christian, a member of the NRA, an avid hunter, a part-time farmer and loved his sawmills.
He loved his goats, operated Hixon’s park and campgrounds. He was an amateur radio operator.
He was a very loving and giving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather always studied his bible.
He is survived by his wife, Julia Hendershot Hixon whom he married November 7, 1955, one daughter, Cynthia Rinker and husband John of Warfordsburg, three sons; Allan D. Hixon, Jr. and wife Kathy of Warfordsburg, Edward Hixon of Hopewell, PA, Ernest Hixon of Warfordsburg, one brother; Charles Hixon, Jr. and wife Ruth of Wolcott, NY. Seven grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, several step-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Edna and Ada; six brothers, Russell, Clifford, John, Phil, Grant and Harry.
A Graveside service will be held Thursday August 21, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Buck Valley Christian Cemetery. Rev. William Swope will officiate. Pallbearers will be grandsons
The family will receive friends Wednesday 6-8 p.m. at the Grove Funeral Home, Hancock, MD.
