Hustontown

By Kate Berkstresser

The weather was great for the fair last week, and the children will be going off to school this week. It seems it was a short summer.

The next county event will be the Fulton Fall Folk Festival in October. We hope that there will be nice weather as it is a big event for the county.

We send happy birthday wishes to Shawn Berkstresser on August 27.

Hustontown Fire Co. will sponsor an open stage Saturday evening, August 23, beginning at 6 p.m. The kitchen opens at 5 p.m. Admission is free. Come and share your talent or just come out and enjoy the evening listening to others. It’s a good time to visit with old friends and a chance to make new ones.

Congratulations to those who had winning items at the fair. As we know those exhibits make the fair.

Sorry to hear Mrs. Mike Keebaugh isn’t feeling so well. We send recovery wishes her way.

Household hint: Fresh corn is tasty, but the silks aren’t any fun. Remove them with a wet paper towel or napkin. Wipe the ear down from one end to the other. The silk will stick to the paper towel and come right off.
