Senior Center Karaoke Karaoke and DJ Donnie will be at Warfordsburg Senior Center Saturday, August 23. Doors will open at 5 p.m., with the music starting at 6 p.m. Charge at the door is $5 per person or $8 a couple. Light refreshments will be served. Karaoke will be provided by Locomotion Express Entertainment with DJ Donnie. All proceeds will benefit the center. More information may be obtained by calling 294-6020.

Benefit Auction A benefit auction will be held September 27, at McConnellsburg American Legion. Doors open at 3 p.m. and auction begins at 5 p.m. There will be no alcohol served during this event. Admission is $5 per person. Children 10 and under are admitted free. Tickets on sale now. Proceeds benefit Pastor Bill Swope. Donations are needed. Yard/Bake SaleA yard sale and bake will be held Friday, August 29, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Hustontown Senior Center, 387 Cole Road, Hustontown. The center is looking for donated items. The center is open 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday thru Friday. All proceeds benefit the center.

Motorcycle Ride The annual end-of-summer Fallen Rider benefit ride will be held Sunday, September 14, at Mercersburg Mennonite Church. Arrive between 9:30 a.m. and 10 a.m.; welcome at 10 a.m.; special music at 10:15 a.m.; meal provided by church members at 11:45 a.m.; 100-mile ride at 1 p.m.; return to church for snacks and ice cream at 4 p.m. Call or email by September 8 for meal count at 717-860-3011 or 717- 328-9282 or mermenchurch@gmail.com.

Walk-Rock-Roll-a-Thon A walk-rock-roll a-thon will be held during the August 29 social at Warfordsburg center and community park. A covered-dish meal with meat provided will start at 6 p.m. DJs Barb and Forrest will kick off the event at 7 p.m. Along with the walk-rock-roll-a-thon there will be a bonfire, dancing in the pavilion and prizes. Clothing Giveaway Crossroads Bible Church will hold its second annual winter outerwear clothing giveaway in the Kidz Korner building Saturday, September 13, from 9 a.m. to noon. Children and adults can choose from a selection of coats, jackets, vests, scarves, hats, gloves, and mittens. Volunteer Work Days Volunteer work day will be held at Cowans Gap from 9 a.m. to noon September 27. Tools and materials will be supplied by the park. Projects include picnic table assembly, trail work, invasive shrub removal, litter removal, general cleanup and painting. Meet at Cowans Gap State Park, Pavilion #1. AARP Class AARP Refresher Safe Driving Course will be offered at Hustontown Senior Center Tuesday, September 16, from 8 a.m. to noon. This is for those who have already had the 2-day driver’s safety classes. Cost is $15 for AARP members and $20 for nonmembers. AARP will also be doing a 2- day course on Monday and Tuesday, September 22 and 23, from 8 a.m. to noon for those who have never taken the classes. No testing involved. Payment and preregistration is required. Checkes should be made out to AARP. To preregister call 987-3770 Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Free Clothing Bedding, clothing for adults, children and babies, new underwear, new children’s shoes and hygiene products will be available Tuesday, September 16, at Saint Stephen Catholic Church. Sponsored by Fulton County Catholic Mission. Doors open at 9 a.m. For more information call 485-5917.

MEETINGS

Buddy Walk Meeting Fulton County Buddy Walk will hold monthly meetings on the third Thursday of each month at 6 p.m., in the Community State Bank meeting room. PARSE Meeting Cancelled PARSE (Pennsylvania Association of Retired State Employees) will meet September 10 at McConnellsburg VFW at 9 a.m.

Garden Club Meeting North End Garden Club will meet Tuesday, August 26, 11 a.m., for a picnic at Buchanan State Park in Cove Gap at the rear picnic area. Carpool leaving from Giant at 10:30 a.m. Bring a covered dish. Plates, cups, napkins, utensils and some drinks provided. Also bring items for Chinese auction game after lunch and meeting. OSI Annual Membership Meeting Occupational Services Inc. (OSI) will hold its annual membership meeting Monday, September 15, at 7 p.m., at 17 Redwood Street, Chambersburg. The public is invited to attend. OSI is a vocational rehabilitation facility serving Franklin and Fulton counties since 1957. The nonprofit agency serves the vocational needs of individuals with disabilities and is governed by a voluntary board of directors.

Friends Of Meadow Grounds Meeting Friends of Meadow Grounds Lake meets the fourth Monday of each month at Community State Bank, 415 Fulton Drive, McConnellsburg, at 6 p.m.

FOOD AND DINING

Meals Available Are you hungry? Could a few groceries help to feed you and your family? Once a month volunteers pack up boxes of food to be given to anyone in need in the Waterfall area. Festival Center United Methodist Church will hold its third and last ice cream festival of the year Saturday, August 23, at 4 p.m. Turkey dinners with filling, mashed potatoes, green beans or corn, applesauce or coleslaw, sandwiches, soup, pie, cake and ice cream will be available. The building is located next to Center Church, one-half mile off Waterfall Road on Dublin Mills Road.

Ice Cream Social/Parade Needmore Fire Co. will hold its annual ice cream social and parade Saturday, September 13. The parade lineup will begin at 5:30 p.m. and parade starts at 7 p.m. Homemade ice cream, food, games and music by Night Drive. More information may be obtained by calling 717-573-2821.

Picnic at the Park Join Fulton Fatherhood Saturday, August 23, at Widmeyer Park in Hancock, at the old Lions Club pavilion, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. This is a completely free event for the whole family, which will include games, food and family fun. Pie Sale St. Stephen Family Life Committee is sponsoring a Grandma Ann’s peach pie sale Saturday, August 23. Pies can be picked up in the social hall after 9 a.m. Cost is $9 for plain and $10 for crumb. To order call Sister Margie at 485- 5917.

Ice Cream Festival Fairview United Methodist Church will hold an ice cream festival Saturday, September 13. The church is located four miles north of Hustontown on North Hess Road. Homemade ice cream, soups, sandwiches, french fries and desserts will be for sale. The festival will begin at 4 p.m. Remember: Due to the turnpike construction, a detour is in effect on North Hess Road.

Free Meal A free meal will be served the second Tuesday of each month at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 220 North Third Street. Please join in for good fellowship.

HEALTH

Immunization Clinic Anyone who is uninsured or underinsured, the Department of Health can help with vaccinations. The Department of Health is providing a public immunication clinic, by appointment only, the first Friday of each month from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Pleasant Ridge Church of the Brethren, 2507 Pleasant Ridge Road, Needmore, and the third Friday of every month at McConnellsburg Fire Co. Anyone is eligible for vaccines at low or not cost if underinsured (insurance does not cover vaccine) or uninsured (no insurance). Maximum cost is $5, payable with check or money order. Alzheimer’s/Dementia Support Group Alzheimer’s/ dementia support group meets the third Tuesday monthly at 6 p.m. in Fulton County Medical Center, Pearl Room. More information may be obtained by calling 717-485-6108.

Community Wellness/Silver Sneakers/Prime Community Wellness/Silver Sneakers/Prime will be held Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, from 6 a.m. to 7 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., and Wednesday and Friday, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., at Fulton County Medical Center cardiopulmonary rehab gym. The cost is based on insurance. Call Kim or Patti at 717-485- 6149 to see if insurance provider is accepted. Community Wellness is $40/month/person or $70/month/couple.

Nutrition Class Fulton County nutrition awareness classes are held at Warfordsburg Senior Center on the third Monday of every month. When the third Monday is a holiday, it is held the fourth Monday from 10 a.m. to noon. To register or sign up for lunch call 717-294-6020.

Veterans Assistance Dan McIntyre, assistant state service office of Veterans of Foreign Wars, will be at McConnellsburg VFW to assist veterans with service-connected disability claims. McCbg. Bingo McConnellsburg Fire Co. will hold bingo every Friday. Bingo starts at 7 p.m. and doors open at 5:30 p.m.

Bingo Ashlyn’s Angels will hold a Longaberger/31/Scentsy bingo Sunday, September 7, at McConnellsburg Firehall. Doors open at noon and bingo begins at 2 p.m. Tickets are $20 and on sale now. Proceeds go to help families in need in Fulton County throughout the winter months and a portion of the proceeds will go to the scholarship fund to be given to one student from each school district. Homecoming Sideling Hill Christian Church will celebrate its annual homecoming Sunday, August 31. Services include Sunday School at 9:30 a.m., worship services at 10:30 a.m., followed by a basket lunch at noon. An afternoon service will be held at 1:30 p.m., with Pastor Lyle Mellott providing the message and Gary Truax providing special music. There will be a hymn sing at 7 p.m. All are welcome to join in the worship and fellowship. The church is located at 10424 Sipes Mill Road, Needmore.
