Charges Pending Lab Analysis

Drug-related charges are pending the results of lab analysis against a Gaithersburg, Md., man, state police reported over the weekend.

Police said troopers clocked 20-year- old Benjamin Robert Bohlander travelling at 84 miles per hour in a 55-mile-per-hour zone along the eastbound lanes of Interstate 70 on Sunday, March 16. Once the vehicle was stopped at 5:07 p.m. police allegedly detected a strong odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle. Items, including drug paraphernalia, were seized and have been submitted to the state police lab in Harrisburg for analysis.

Charges are pending through the office of Magisterial District Judge Tamela Heming.

Death Investigation Remains Open

An investigation into the death of a local woman remains open, Pennsylvania State Police in McConnellsburg reported this week.

Twenty-five-year-old Nikki Nichole Martz was reportedly located inside a room at Johnnie’s Motel at 709 Lincoln Way East in Mc- Connellsburg Borough during the late evening hours last Wednesday. She was pronounced dead at 12:20 a.m. on Thursday, March 13, by Fulton County Deputy Coroner Robert Fleegle. Fleegle was assisted by Coroner Berley Souders and Deputy Coroner Brian Barton.

Police indicated the investigation will remain open, and cause of death is undetermined at this time. Furthermore, anyone having further information is urged to contact state police Trooper Timothy Lear at 717-485-3131.

Snow Globe Thrown

An argument escalated at the All American Garage in Breezewood that caused charges to be filed against a Bedford man.

Pennsylvania State Police in Bedford said Dwayne A. Yothers, 42, was involved in an argument on March 9 with a 67-year-old Hustontown man. During the 9:25 p.m. confrontation at the garage along Post House Road, police alleged Yothers threw a snow globe at the man, striking him in the face. Harassment charges against Yothers were filed through Magisterial District Judge Kathy Calhoun.

Man Accused Of DUI

A Crystal Spring has been accused of driving under the influence following an incident in the Save-ALot parking lot on March 1.

According to state police, Theodore Malloy Grance was found by troopers at 11:30 p.m. passed out behind the wheel of his 2002 Mercury Villager in the Ayr Township parking lot. The vehicle was running and in the reverse position, police added.

Grance, 25, was placed under arrested and taken to Fulton County Medical Center for blood work. Charges have been filed through Magisterial District Judge Wendy Mellott.

Three-Car Collision On Lincoln Highway

Pennsylvania State Police in McConnellsburg responded to a three-vehicle accident on Monday, March 3, along Lincoln Highway, during which two individuals were injured.

Reports indicate a 2003 Chrysler minivan operated by Nancy J. Dicken, 50, of Crystal Spring was stopped in the westbound lane of the Brush Creek Township roadway at 3:36 p.m. In an attempt to avoid a collision, Jesse L. Urban, 26, of Wells Tannery drove his 1998 Dodge minivan onto the berm. Police noted the collision occurred when a 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt operated by Chad B. Bosely, 31, of Charleroi, Pa., struck both vans.

Dicken and her passengers, a 16-year-old male from Crystal Spring; a 15-year-old male from Crystal Spring; a 9-year-old boy from Breezewood; a 12-year-old boy from Breezewood; and an 11-yearold girl from Breezewood, were not injured and were wearing seat belts. They did, however, require medical transport to UPMC Bedford Memorial.

Bosely and Urban suffered minor injuries, but Urban’s passenger, Melissa J. Housware, 18, of Breezewood, was not harmed. All three were wearing seat belts.

Bosely will be cited for failure to drive a vehicle at safe speeds.

Driver Cited Following I-70 Accident

An Aylett, Va., woman was cited for failure to drive on roadways laned for traffic following a single-vehicle accident along the eastbound lanes of Interstate 70.

Pennsylvania State Police in McConnellsburg reported that on March 10 Barbara J. Switzer, 70, failed to negotiate a curve in the Union Township roadway. Switzer’s 2007 Dodge Caliber travelled into the median where it struck a traffic sign at 1:35 p.m. The driver was not injured and was using a seat belt.

Man Cited For Trespassing

Pennsylvania State Police in McConnellsburg have cited 20-year-old Aaron Leon Carbaugh of McConnellsburg with criminal trespassing in connection with an incident at the Cardinal Glenn Apartments.

On Tuesday, March 11, Carbaugh is accused of trespassing at the apartment complex at 6:10 p.m. Police alleged Carbaugh had been previously given notice of trespass on an earlier date. Charges have been filed through Magisterial District Judge Wendy Mellott.

Two Accused Of Harassment

Two individuals face charges of harassment as a result of an argument that turned physical on Tuesday, March 11, in Licking Creek Township.

According to state police, Derek Stanley Mellott, 21, of Everett, and 23-year-old Harrisonville resident Kellie Lucille Mellott were involved in a verbal dispute regarding money. The argument allegedly escalated when Derek Mellott pushed Kellie Mellott. Kellie Mellott is then accused of striking Derek Mellott in the back of the head. Charges in the 12:15 p.m. incident at 140 Madeline Drive have been filed through Magisterial District Judge Devin Horne.

Drug Charges Filed

Charges of possession of a small amount of marijuana have been filed against 21- year- old McConnellsburg resident Scott Francis D’Anna, state police said. D’Anna reportedly possessed the alleged drugs at 720 Lincoln Way East in McConnellsburg on February 20 at 10:22 p.m. Charges have been field through Magisterial District Judge Wendy Mellott.

Cellphone Stolen

A 25-year- old McConnellsburg woman told state police investigators her black Net 10 cellular phone was stolen from 653 1/4 Lincoln Way East, McConnellsburg. The theft is believed to have occurred between 10 p.m. on March 6 and 4:50 p.m. on March 7. Man Accused Of Mischief

Pennsylvania State Police in McConnellsburg have charged 19-year- old Mc- Connellsburg resident Aaron McKenzie Souders with criminal mischief through the office of Magisterial District Judge Wendy Mellott. Souders is accused of entering a residence located on the 500 block of Lincoln Way East in McConnellsburg Borough on Monday, March 17. During the 2:01 p.m. incident Souders allegedly argued with a 35-year-old female and damaged property inside the home.

Drug Arrest On Interstate

A vehicle stop along the eastbound lanes of Interstate 70 Monday afternoon has led to the arrest of a Hampton, Va., man, state police said. Twenty-two-year-old Alexander M. Fung- Cap was stopped by troopers for speeding at 5: 37 p. m. in Brush Creek Township. During the traffic stop, suspected marijuana was located inside the vehicle. Charges have been filed through Magisterial District Judge Tamela Heming.

Burglary Reported

Pennsylvania State Police in McConnellsburg investigated a burglary this month that occurred at 233 Grist Mill Road, Burnt Cabins. Burglars reportedly pushed in the front door of the Dublin Township apartment between February 28 and March 7 and removed a maple frame double bed and an older model, grey space heater. Victim is a 59-yearold woman from Willow Hill. Anyone with additional information pertinent to this break-in is asked to call state police Trooper Hibner at 717- 485-3131.

Franklin County Woman Cited For DUI

A Waynesboro, Franklin County, woman has been arrested by state police in Mc- Connellsburg for driving under the influence of alcohol. State police reported Amanda Renee Groh, 29, was stopped by troopers along Lincoln Way East just east of the intersection of Reservoir Road on March 5 at 9:20 p.m.

Suspected Heroin Found

Pennsylvania State Police in McConnellsburg reported a 28-year- old woman was found in possession of marijuana at Fulton County Medical Center on March 7 at 12:50 p.m. The suspect in the case was not identified, and it is unknown if charges have been filed.

Mischief Investigated

A 22-year-old man reported to state police in Mc- Connellsburg four tire valve stems were damaged on his vehicle sometime during the night on Sunday, March 16. The vehicle was parked at 2414 Cito Road in Ayr Township when the mischief occurred. Warfordsburg Man A Fugitive From Justice

A Warfordsburg man was taken into custody last Friday afternoon after it was determined he was a fugitive from justice. State police reported 41-year-old Steven William Dere was arrested at 12:24 p.m. and charged with being a fugitive after troopers determined he was wanted by the state of Maryland. Dere was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Wendy Mellott and remanded to the Franklin County Jail in lieu of $30,000 bail.
