Forbes Hires Business Assistant

Strait will assist with financial matters
By Jean Snyder

The Forbes Road School District’s Board of Directors held a special board meeting last Thursday evening to address two agenda items. Topping the list was the decision to hire a business assistant to the school superintendent, and the board voted to hire Bethany Strait to fill a position that was left vacant when Lynn Wertman resigned effective February 14, 2014. A decision to hire a business assistant was tabled earlier at the board’s March 3 meeting.

Strait, 23, resides in the Everett area and graduated from Northern Bedford High School. Following graduation, she attended and graduated in May 2013 from Mount Aloysius College with a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration. Strait, whose starting salary was set at $36,000, will begin work at Forbes Road in approximately two weeks.

Strait’s duties at Forbes Road will be bookkeeping and assisting the superintendent with the school’s budget. She told the “News” that she is very excited and anxious to begin her duties at the school.

The only other item of business for the special meeting was to accept the resignation of Joshua Wakefield as director of technology effective March 27, 2014. He was, however, retained as Pennsylvania Information Management System (PIMS) coordinator.

Approval was given to advertise the director of technology position.

The Forbes Road board of directors meets the first Monday of each month at 7 p.m. The next regular meeting will be held on April 7, 2014.
