Fire Kills Woman In Western PA Home
PITTSBURGH (AP) –Authorities in western Pennsylvania say a woman died in a threealarm fire in a Pittsburgh home over the weekend.
Officials said fire crews were called to the Shadyside neighborhood at about 5 a.m. Sunday.
Neighbors said a 65-year-old woman had lived in the converted three-story brick house for at least four decades.
The Allegheny County medical examiner’s office said it would take several days to confirm the victim’s identity.
Mike Rohach, who has lived downstairs in the building for 40 years, said he rushed upstairs to try to rescue her but was driven back by smoke and flames.
A Pittsburgh Public Safety spokeswoman said a firefighter was taken to a hospital after he slipped and fell on ice.
The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
