Pennsylvania State Police in McConnellsburg responded to a call of a two-vehicle collision along Wells Valley Road last Friday afternoon.
Police said while cresting the top of a hill near the intersection of North Valley Road 71-year-old Waterfall resident Max E. Sheeder struck the rear of a 1988 GMC with his westbound 2002 Ford Taurus. The GMC, police said, was stopped on the roadway with its four-way flashers activated when the accident occurred at 4:15 p.m.
Sheeder, who will be charged with following too closely, was wearing a seat belt and suffered major injuries. He did not require medical transport. A driver or passenger was not listed for the GMC, but Terry L. Defibaugh, 57, of Waterfall, was listed by police as an “other” associated with the vehicle. Police added it was “not applicable” if Defibaugh was wearing a seat belt. He was not injured.
Chain Saw Stolen
An orange and white Stihl chain saw was stolen from 2110 Owl Creek Road in Licking Creek Township between 3:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 9. Victim is a 26-year-old male from Harrisonville. Car Strikes Utility Pole
Two McConnellsburg residents escaped harm on Saturday, March 8, when their westbound 1999 Audi A8 struck a utility pole along Battle Ridge Road. According to state police, the driver, a 16-year-old girl, and her 17-year-old male passenger were wearing seat belts during the 2:20 p.m. accident in Dublin Township. The driver will be cited for operating a vehicle without a license.
Hancock Man Arrested For DUI
A Hancock, Md., man was arrested for driving under the influence following an accident along Thompson Road, state police reported.
Thirty-year-old Jerimey Lynn Unger lost control of his southbound 2006 Volkswagen, which crashed into a guiderail near Johnson Mill Road at 3:40 a.m. last Friday. Unger was placed under arrest, police said. State police were assisted on the scene by Fischer’s Towing and Hancock Fire Co.
Local Man Charged For DUI
A 45-year-old Big Cove Tannery man faces charges of driving under the influence following a traffic stop on Friday, March 7. State police said they initiated a traffic stop along Cito Road at the intersection of Fulton Drive at 11:20 p.m. for a vehicle code violation. Aaron Christopher Souders was subsequently arrested and will be charged through Magisterial District Judge Wendy Mellott.
Juvenile Suspected Of Possessing Drug Paraphernalia
Charges of the use or possession of drug paraphernalia will be filed against a 17- year- old boy from Harrisonville, state police said. The teen is alleged to have had paraphernalia that was found by school personnel from the Central Fulton School District on Thursday, March 6, at 11:17 a.m. Charges will be filed through Magisterial District Judge Wendy Mellott.
Tractor-Trailer Crashes On I-70 Ramp
A tractor-trailer accident occurred on the Crystal Spring exit ramp of Interstate 70 on Friday, March 7, Pennsylvania State Police in McConnellsburg reported.
The 5:47 a.m. crash occurred as Gary W. Reedy, 56, of Niantic, Conn., travelled onto the ramp with his eastbound Kenworth tractortrailer. The Kenworth struck a guiderail, causing rear axle trailer damage as well as damage to both right rear tires. Reedy was wearing a seat belt and escaped harm.
Franklin County Man Injured In Accident
A Greencastle, Pa., man was transported via ambulance to Fulton County Medical Center for treatment of injuries sustained during a single-vehicle accident last Thursday morning.
Pennsylvania State Police in McConnellsburg said 43- year-old Ricky D. Fetterhoff suffered minor head and neck injuries during the accident on the 800 block of Buchanan Trail. Fetterhoff, police noted, was injured when his westbound Pontiac Grand Am travelled off the Ayr Township roadway at 4 a.m. and struck a tree.
State police were assisted on the scene by McConnellsburg ambulance as well as Scott’s Towing. Fetterhoff will be cited for failure to drive on roadways laned for traffic.
Warfordsburg Man Tries To Elude Police
A Warfordsburg man faces several charges including attempting to elude state police troopers after a near head- on collision with a marked police car.
According to state police reports, 25-year-old Faron Allen Weller was negotiating a curve along Buck Valley Road on Wednesday, March 5, when he travelled into the oncoming lane and nearly collided head- on with a marked state police vehicle. A pursuit began at 7:21 p.m., state police said, with Weller allegedly pulling into the parking lot of the Whispering Pines Saw Shop in Bethel Township and turning off his vehicle lights.
Police alleged Weller then began to drive his vehicle behind the business and up a hill into a wooded area to avoid further detection. He was, however, taken into custody and found to be under the influence of drugs. In his possession, police said, was prescription medication not in his name as well as brass knuckles.
Weller has been charged with driving under the influence of controlled substances, attempting to flee or elude police, reckless endangerment, possession of prohibited offensive weapons, possession of a controlled substance, careless and reckless driving and summary traffic offenses. Charges are filed through Magisterial District Judge Tamela Heming.
Driver Extricated From Vehicle
A Warfordsburg woman was extricated from her vehicle on Monday, March 3, by the McConnellsburg Volunteer Fire Co., after suffering minor injuries during a crash along Laurel Ridge Road.
Pennsylvania State Police in McConnellsburg said Laurie A. Johnson, 46, was transported to Fulton County Medical Center following the 4: 20 a. m. accident just south of the intersection of South Hess Road. Johnson, police stated, lost control of her northbound 2001 Dodge Durango on the snow-covered roadway. The vehicle crossed the Thompson Township roadway and struck a tree. It suffered disabling damage to the driver’s front side and was removed by Bard’s Towing.
Johnson was not wearing a seat belt, but passenger Brandon L. Kerns, 26, also of Warfordsburg, was. He was not injured. Johnson is slated to be charged with failure to drive on roadways laned for traffic and restraint systems.
Crime, Patrol Activity Report Released
Pennsylvania State Police in McConnellsburg released their crime and patrol activity report for the month of February, during which a total of 33 criminal offenses were reported. Of those incidents, 21 were cleared and 20 arrests were made. In addition, troopers responded to 34 accidents, five hit-and-run crashes and three accidents related to driving under the influence. Seven people were injured in the accidents. Furthermore, state police issued 542 traffic citations, 317 written warnings, six driving-under-the-influence citations, 82 seat-belt citations and six child safety seat citations.
Two Accused Of Harassment
Two Warfordsburg residents have been accused of harassment in connection with an argument at a McKibbin Lane, Union Township, residence on Monday, March 3.Statepolicesaida3p.m. argument occurred between Vincent Irvin Venzant, 52, and 49-year-old Saul Williams. Williams allegedly punched Venzant, who in turned threatened to shoot Williams with a gun. Charges have been filed against both men.
Officials at the Southern Fulton School District informed state police investigators a check they had issued was reportedly altered and passed between noon on November 12, 2013 and 11:35 a.m. on March 26. The investigation into the forgery continues, police said.
Two Found With Drug Paraphernalia
Pennsylvania State Police in McConnellsburg have charged Justin Wayne Fahnestock, 26, of McConnellsburg and 27-year-old Kristin Elizabeth Keefer of Enola, Pa., with the use or possession of drug paraphernalia. The duo were allegedly found in possession of paraphernalia at 3:29 p.m. on March 2 at 516 East Poplar Street, McConnellsburg. Charges were filed through Magisterial District Judge Wendy Mellott.
Car Strikes Guiderail
A northbound 2002 Mercury Sable travelled off Thompson Road on Saturday, March 8, and struck a guiderail with its front passenger side corner, state police reported. The car driven by 75-year- old Warfordsburg resident James F. Trail continued north for approximately 100 feet before coming to a stop at 12:50 p.m.
Trail was wearing a seat belt and was not hurt. He will be cited for failure to drive on roadways laned for traffic.
