Walking At Alumni Gym McConnellsburg Alumni & Friends Assoc. will open the alumni community gym every Monday, Wednesday and Friday between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., for anyone to get out of the cold and exercise in the gym. This is a free activity. If Central Fulton School District is closed because of the weather, the alumni gym will also be closed. Any questions call 485-0221 or 377-3643.

Mic & Jam Night McConnellsburg Alumni & Friends Association will host a Mic & Jam night Saturday, March 15, 2014. Alumni gym will open at 4 p.m., with music starting at 5 p.m. All ages are invited to come and listen, dance and enjoy a night out. Kitchen will be open.

Earth Day Festival An Earth Day Festival, organized by the Fulton County Library’s Teen Advisory Board, will be held at the main library Saturday, April 26, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This event will include crafts and games for children, food and much more.

Bowling As part of the Fulton Fatherhood Initiative Program, one of the goals at Fulton County Family Partnership Inc. is to encourage positive father/children interaction. Join in for some Saturday family fun at Nellie Fox Bowling on March 29, 2014. Bowling will begin at noon. Fathers are free and the cost for all others is only $7.50 per person, which includes two games and free bowling shoes. To join call 717-485- 5038, Ext 215. Bus Trip Sideling Hill Parish is sponsoring a bus trip to Sight and Sound to see the new production “Moses” Saturday, March 22. Includes a meal at Good and Plenty Restaurant following the show. Cost is $116.50 for adults; teens 13-18 $81.75; children 3-12, $61. Little League Registration Anyone interested in registering for the 2014 Little League season should register now. Tryouts are Saturday, March 29, at 9 a.m. in the Koontz building, North First Street, McConnellsburg.

5K Run/Walk A 5K run/walk will be held April 26 at Chambersburg. Registration sheets are located on the CAMS South middle School’s Web site at www.chamberbsurg.k12.pa.us. Start time is 8:30 a.m. for a 1- mile run run for ages 12 and under and 9 a.m. for the 5K run/walk. CF Hall Walking Central Fulton hall walking will run until the end of March. Hall walking will be at the high school Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Check the Web site for updates at www.cfsd.info.

BINGO

HAVFCO Bingo Bingo will be held March 20 at Hustontown Fire Company. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., with early birds at 6:30 p.m. and regular bingo with 20 regular games plus specials at 6:45 p.m. Kitchen will open at 5:30 p.m.

Basket Bingo A Longaberger basket bingo to benefit Nita White, who is fighting leukemia, will be held March 22 at Needmore Firehall. Doors open at noon and games begin at 2 p.m. Tickets are $25. Inclement weather date is March 29. More information may be obtained by calling 717-573-4202.

Basket Bingo The ARC of Franklin and Fulton counties will host its annual basket and Vera Bradley bingo Sunday, August 6, at the VFW in Chambersburg on South Fourth Street, Chambersburg. Tickets are $25 each and include lunch. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. and bingo will start at 1:30 p.m. Prizes are Longaberger baskets and Vera Bradley purses. Proceeds from the event stay in Franklin and Fulton counties and support services to persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities. MEETINGS

Environmental Action Group Session The Environmental Action Group will hold its next session Energy Efficiency and Conservation, at 7 p.m., Wednesday, March 12, in the community room of Fulton County Library. All are welcome.

Garden Club Meeting North End Garden Club will meet Tuesday, March 25, at 11 a.m., at Fulton County Library in the community room. New members and guests are welcome. Contact Sharon Berbert for additional information at 717-485- 5736.

Teen Advisory Board Meeting The Teen Advisory Board of Fulton County Library will meet Friday, March 21, from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the library’s community room. The group will continue their work on the upcoming Earth Day Festival as well as practice their music. All members should remember to bring their instrument as well as any recyclables collected.

MOMS Meetings Southern Franklin County MOMS Club meets the third Thursday of every month at 9:30 a.m. Support is offered to stay-at-home moms in Greencastle Antrim School District, Tuscarora School District and McConnellsburg. For location and more information contact sfcmomsclub@outlook.com.

POWER Meetings The goal of POWER is to bring awareness and education to the community about addiction. For more information contact Susanne Reed at 727-414-9695. Sportsmen’s League Meeting Fulton County Sportsmen’s League will meet March 21, at 7 p.m., in the stone house at the trout nursery. Details for the annual trout stocking and fundraiser on the first day of trout season, April 12, will be discussed.

Quilt Club Meeting Fulton County Quilt Club will meet Saturday, March 15, at 10 a.m., at Fulton County Library, McConnellsburg. There will be a business meeting, followed by a lesson on hand applique. The only supplies needed are a needle and thread, scissors, a few fabric straps and a brownbag lunch (opt). The club welcomes anyone who may be interested in quilting, regardless of skill level. Novices are always welcome.

Historical Society Meetings Fulton County Historical Society monthly board of directors meetings will be held March 20, April 17 and May 15 at 7 p.m., at the Fulton House, Mc- Connellsburg.

Community Wellness/Silver Sneakers/Prime Community Wellness/Silver Sneakers/Prime will be held Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, from 6 a.m. to 7 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., and Wednesday and Friday, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., at Fulton County Medical Center cardiopulmonary rehab gym. Immunization Clinics The Department of Health is providing public immunization clinics by appointment only at the following locations: Fulton County Medical Center – every Thursday from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.; Hustontown Senior Center – fourth Friday of every month from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.; Warfordsburg Senior Center – third Friday of every month from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Eligible at low cost if underinsured (insurance does not cover the vaccine) or uninsured. Nutrition Class Fulton County nutrition awareness classes are held at Warfordsburg Senior Center on the third Monday of every month. When the third Monday is a holiday, it is held the fourth Monday from 10 a.m. to noon. To register or sign up for lunch call 717-294-6020.

McConnellsburg AA Meetings The McConnellsburg Chapter of Alcoholics Anonymous will meet on Wednesdays at 7 p.m. every week at the Alumni Building basement, McConnellsburg, and Mondays at 11 a.m. at Fulton Co. Medical Center.

Library Building Dedication Fulton County Library Board of Directors will hold a building dedication at the main library in honor of the considerable financial contributions made by Anna and the late Paul Shockey. The dedication will be held Saturday, April 26, at 11 a.m. The general public is welcome to attend.

Planting Seeds Workshop Penn State Fulton County Master Gardeners are offering a workshop on planting seeds Saturday, March 29, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., at the McConnellsburg Firehall, first floor, East Maple Street. Energy Efficiency Program Find out how to save money by making small changes at home. An energy-efficient home saves money and conserves natural resources. This free public program will be presented by Greg Reineke with the Fulton County Conservation District. The first 20 people to register for this program will receive a free energy-saving kit. Benefit Book Sale A giant benefit book sale will be held May 9-11. Over 60,000 new and used books of all types, plus CDs, maps, sheet music, magazines, videotapes and artwork will be offered for sale at bargain prices at the 30th annual Friends of Legal Services book sale at Laird Hall on the Wilson College campus in Chambersburg. Hours are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday, May 9; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, May 10; and noon to 4 p.m., Sunday, May 11. For information call 717-262- 2326. Hunter/Trapper Course Fulton County Hunter/Trapper course will be offered Saturday, March 29, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Fulton County Pistol and Rifle Club. Preregistration is required. 55-Alive Renewal Class Warfordsburg Senior Center will offer a one-day renewal only class for the 55-Alive/Mature Driving discount program on March 26. The class is from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., with a break for lunch. Preregistration is required, either in person or by calling the center. Checks are made payable to AARP for $20 (per person nonmember) or $15 (per person AARP member). Warfordsburg Senior Center is located at 209 Long Hollow Road, Warfordsburg. Free Tax Preparation Chambersburg Tax Aide Program and AARP Foundation will offer free tax preparation in Chambersburg and McConnellsburg to low- to moderate-income families. Site locations and dates: Eugene Clark Jr. Community Center, 235 South Third Street, Chambersburg: 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays; American Legion Post 46, Philadelphia Avenue, Chambersburg: 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Wednesdays and Fridays; and Fulton Theatre building, North Second Street, McConnellsburg: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Wednesdays.

Camp Cadet Applications Fulton County Camp Cadet is accepting applications for the 2014 Camp Cadet to be held at Sinoquipe Scout Reservation in Fort Littleton June 1-6. Applicants must be residents of Fulton County between the ages of 12 through 15 before June 1 and there is no cost to the cadet. Applicants may obtain applications through their school presentations or at the Pennsylvania State Police Barracks at 717-485-3131. Applications will be accepted through March 15, 2014.

Horse Pasture Workshop Franklin County Conservation District and the Natural Resources Conservation Service will host a Healthy Horse Pasture Workshop Saturday, April 12, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Welsh Run Stables in Mercersburg.

CF Kindergarten Registration Central Fulton School District will hold registration for the 2014-15 school year Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, April 9, 10 and 11. Children who will be age 4 on or before August 20 are eligible for the K4 program and children who will be age 5 on or before August 20 are eligible for the K5 kindergarten program. Veterans Assistance Dan McIntyre, assistant state service office of Veterans of Foreign Wars, will be at McConnellsburg VFW to assist veterans with service-connected disability claims. REUNION

SF Class Of 1984 Reunion Southern Fulton Class of 1984 has planned their 30th class reunion for May 31, at Whips Cove Church social hall, 5044 Moss Road, Warfordsburg. Social time will be at 5:30 p.m., with dinner at 6 p.m. The evening will continue at The Log Cabin in Hancock for those who wish to attend. Bake Sale A bake sale will be held Saturday, March 15, at 10 a.m., at Hancock Antique Mall. Proceeds benefit local youths trip to England as People To People Ambassadors.

Spring Tea The Historical Society Museum’s annual spring tea will be held Saturday, April 12, at 11:30 a.m., in the Fulton House in McConnellsburg. Decorate a hat for the tea and win a prize for either the funniest or the prettiest. Luncheon and desserts served along with the tea. Tickets are $9 for adults and $4.50 for children 12 and under. Spaghetti Dinner Southern Fulton PTA is sponsoring a spaghetti dinner and a show at the elementary school, Saturday, March 29, at 6 p.m. Featured will be national awardwinning vocalist Sandy Uttley performing a tribute to Patsy Cline with classic country and oldies. Chicken Barbecue A chicken barbecue will be held March 15, from 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m., at Cove Valley Camp, 5357 Little Cove Road, Mercersburg. Cost is by donation.

Sandwich Sale A ham and cheese sandwich sale to benefit Ralph Dishong, who is battling stage 4 cancer, and family is being planned. Price is $4 and includes sandwich and chips. Pancake/Sausage Breakfast A pancake and sausage breakfast will be held March 22 at Asbury United Methodist Church, 7404 Lincoln Highway, Harrisonville, from 6 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Regular, blueberry and buckwheat pancakes, sausage, puddin, fruit, coffee and tea will be served. Donations are accepted.

Pancake Supper Bedford Chapel Church on Rt. 643, 4570 Flickerville Rd., Warfordsburg, will hold an all-you-can eat pancake supper Saturday March 29, from 4:30 p.m. until 7 p.m. Menu includes pancakes, buckwheat cakes, sausage, sausage gravy, scrambled eggs, coffee and juice. Everyone welcome.

Hoagie Sale St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Big Cove Tannery, will hold a hoagie sale Saturday, April 12, at 14660 Great Cove Road, Big Cove Tannery. Lunch will be served at the schoolhouse across from the church and made-to-order hoagies will be served, along with homemade soups and pies. Soup Night McConnellsburg United Presbyterian Church soup night will be held until April 9, from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Any cancellations due to weather will follow the Central Fulton School District schedule.

Free Meal A free meal will be served the second Tuesday of each month at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 220 North Third Street. Please join in for good fellowship.
