Shanksville 53

Led by senior Chase Shaw, the Forbes Road Cardinals prevailed over Shanksville Friday night in overtime action for a 58-53 victory in the semifinal round of District 5-A playoffs. Shaw rallied for a career- high 26 points. Fellow senior Macklin Hawkins netted 16 points and pulled down six rebounds. Starters Brock Broadwater, Tristan Gelvin and Kyle Schoen all finished with five points.

Hyndman 47

As the announcer said, it was a match involving the “birds and the bees” last Thursday night. It would be the birds, the Forbes Road Cardinals, who would prevail in the opening round of District 5-A playoffs, over Hope for Hyndman. Winning the match 63-47, the Cardinals were led by Macklin Hawkins, who posted a career high 20 points. Brock Broadwater tied his careerhigh record of 18 points and 10 boards. Chase Shaw hit double figures as well with 10 points and five steals.

Southern Fulton 43

Southern Fulton saw its post-season play come to a halt Friday night when the Indians fell to Conemaugh Township as part of the semifinal round of District 5-AA playoffs. Falling by the narrow margin of four points, Southern Fulton’s offense was led by high scorer Connor Litton. Litton closed out the night with 20 points. Dylan Gordon and Jordan Clingerman both had six points, and Clingerman also pulled down 14 rebounds.

Northern Bedford 22

Southern Fulton jumped out to a quick lead thanks to Olivia Mottern, who downed the first eight points for the Lady Indians during the first round of District 5-A playoffs. Southern Fulton rolled to a 69-22 victory over Northern Bedford last Thursday with Mottern, a freshman, netting 19 points. Ashley Roman and teammate Macey Hollenshead followed with 18 and 17 points, respectively.

Conemaugh Township 36

Southern Fulton Lady Indians squared off against the Conemaugh Township Indians Saturday afternoon, clinching the semifinal round of District 5-A playoffs by the margin of 47-36. Freshman Olivia Mottern recorded a career high 28 points. Macey Hollenshead rallied for 13 points, nine assists and eight rebounds.

McConnellsburg 45

The McConnellsburg Lady Spartans ended their post-season play last Thursday falling to Conemaugh Township during the opening round of District 5-A playoffs. Losing the match by the final score of 50-45, the Spartans received 17 points from high-scorer Bronwyne Mellott. Brittany Parson was the next-highest scorer with nine points, and Sam Roberts tacked on seven points, four rebounds, three assists and four steals.
