Vehicle Hits Pole Along Route 30

A Washington Crossing, Pa., man escaped injury when his vehicle spun off a snow-covered Lincoln Highway on Sunday, February 16, and crashed into a utility pole. State police said 23- year-old Connor J. Barrows lost control of his eastbound 2004 Honda Pilot at 8:46 a.m. just east of the intersection of Goodwood Road in Brush Creek Township. Barrows was wearing a seat belt. He will be cited for failure to drive on roadways laned for traffic.

Police Investigate DUI Crash

Pennsylvania State Police in McConnellsburg investigated an alleged driving-under the-influence-related accident along Great Cove Road on Saturday, February 22.

According to reports, Brian Andrew Lynch, 44, of Mc- Connellsburg allegedly veered off the Ayr Township roadway on the 14000 block and into a yard at 9 p.m. Police found Lynch to be under the influence of alcohol and was placed under arrest. Charges have been filed through Magisterial District Judge Wendy Mellott.

McConnellsburg Woman Hit By Vehicle

A 26-year- old McConnellsburg woman was reportedly struck by a vehicle in McConnellsburg Borough last Friday near the intersection of East North and North Fourth streets.

Pennsylvania State Police in McConnellsburg said an eastbound vehicle driven by a 28-year-old Chambersburg man struck the woman at 5:25 p.m. The man, who was not identified by state police, reportedly fled the scene without rendering aid. Police said the man was allegedly operating the vehicle under the influence of a controlled substance.

Decking Stolen

Pressure-treated decking of various sizes was stolen from 113 High Germany Road in Union Township between 12:01 a.m. on February 5 and midnight on February 8. Victim is a 36-year-old Warfordsburg man. Anyone having further information pertinent to this theft is urged to contact state police Trooper Lech at 717-485-3131.

Teen Charged In Accident

A 17-year-old boy from Needmore faces charges of failure to drive a vehicle at safe speeds in connection with a single-vehicle accident on Martin Road last Friday morning.

According to state police reports, the juvenile lost control of his southbound 2007 Pontiac G8, which travelled onto the western berm and struck two trees at 7:11 a.m. The car sustained disabling damage including that to its driver’s side door, police said.

The teen was wearing a seat belt. He suffered moderate injuries and was transported to Fulton County Medical Center for treatment. State police were aided on the accident scene in Belfast Township by McConnellsburg Fire and EMS as well as Bard’s Towing.

Prescription Pills Taken

A 23-year-old Harrisonville woman told state police investigators a bottle of prescription pills was taken from her mailbox located on the 6000 block of Pleasant Ridge Road. The theft is believed to have occurred between 9 a.m. and noon on Thursday, February 20. Anyone having additional information concerning this theft is asked to call state police Trooper Hollibaugh at 717- 485-3131.

Baggie Of Marijuana Found

A baggie containing suspected marijuana was found at the Sheetz convenience store in McConnellsburg Borough on Thursday, February

20, at 10:22 a.m., state police reported.

Firearms Violation Leads To Charges

Pennsylvania State Police in McConnellsburg have charged 35-year- old Mc- Connellsburg resident Charles Joseph Sipes with persons not to possess, use, manufacture, control, sale or transfer firearms as well as sale or transfer of firearms. Police alleged Sipes possessed and sold a firearm he was prohibited from selling on February 10 between noon and 1 p.m. Police added the sale on the 200 block of Lincoln Way East in Mc- Connellsburg Borough was not completed in a legal manner.

Tractor-Trailer Strikes Utility Pole

A Dillsburg, Pa., man was uninjured on Monday, February 10, when his northbound 2001 Volvo tractor-trailer struck a utility along Great Cove Road.

Pennsylvania State Police in McConnellsburg said 39- year-old Timothy L. Brewer failed to negotiate a left-hand curve in the Ayr Township roadway. The tractor-trailer struck a utility pole on the eastern berm at 1:30 p.m. just west of the intersection of Fox Crest Road.

Police noted that following initial impact, the tractor-trailer hit a culvert and then an embankment before jack-knifing. Towing was required. Brewer will be cited for failure to drive on roadways laned for traffic.

Felony Drug Charges Filed

Pennsylvania State Police in McConnellsburg filed felony and misdemeanor drug charges against 50- year- old Alan Randolph Large through Magisterial District Judge Tamela Heming earlier this month. Police alleged the criminal drug activity occurred ta 138 Stahle Road in Union Township on September 10, 2013. A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Large.

Teen Charged With DUI

A 17-year- old Hustontown boy has been arrested and charged with driving under the influence and possession of a controlled substance. According to state police, the juvenile was observed weaving while travelling on the 23000 block of Great Cove Road in Todd Township on February 7 at 8:44 p.m. He was allegedly driving under the influence of several controlled substances and possessed controlled substances as well as paraphernalia.

Car Hits Utility Pole

A Warfordsburg man sustained minor injuries during a single-vehicle accident along Black Oak Road over the weekend.

State police reported David L. Bishop, 61, was travelling northbound on Sunday, February 23, at 10:20 p.m. when he lost control of his 1994 Chevrolet Cavalier. The car ran off the Bethel Township roadway and struck a utility pole.

Bishop, who was wearing a seat belt, will be cited for careless driving.

Car Rolls Over

A northbound 1996 Ford Aspire struck an embankment along Peach Orchard Road and rolled onto its roof on Saturday, February 22. Nineteen-year-old Jacob B. Helser of McConnellsburg was not wearing a seatbelt during the 12:30 a.m. accident in Todd Township. He will be charged with failure to drive a vehicle at safe speeds.

McConnellsburg Man Charged With Assault

A McConnellsburg man was jailed on charges of simple assault Monday following an incident at 107 West Poplar Street in McConnellsburg Borough.

According to state police, 24-year-old Justin Allen Garlock was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Wendy Mellott and remanded to the Franklin County Jail in lieu of $25,000. Garlock allegedly dragged a 14-year-old Mc- Connellsburg boy by his arm and struck him in the face at 6:04 p.m.
