The top readers for the month included Erika Eichelberger with 107 points (first row, middle); Julia Lafferty with 70 points (first row, right), and Donald Hoover with 54 points (first row, left). To bring some sunshine to these cold winter days, McConnellsburg Middle School students participated in a beach-themed reading day February 21. This special event was held in conjunction with a nationwide Accelerated Reader contest, “Read the Most Coast to Coast.”

Students read on beach towels and were able to get drinks and ice cream sandwiches from a “tiki bar” if they earned AR points for the contest. Students were told to read as much as they could within one month’s time and take Accelerated Reading Tests on the books they read.

These students each received a gift card for their wonderful accomplishment.
