Walking At Alumni Gym McConnellsburg Alumni & Friends Assoc. will open the alumni community gym every Monday, Wednesday and Friday between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., for anyone to get out of the cold and exercise in the gym. Pony/Colt League Registration Registration for Pony and Colt League baseball will be held Friday, February 28, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., and Saturday, March 1, from 9 a.m. to noon, at Fulton County Little League concession stand. Bus Trip Sideling Hill Parish is sponsoring a bus trip to Sight and Sound to see the new production “Moses” Saturday, March 22. Includes a meal at Good and Plenty Restaurant following the show. Cost is $116.50 for adults; teens 13-18 $81.75; children 3-12, $61. Shooting Match Hustontown Area Volunteer Fire Co. will sponsor a shooting match Saturday, March 1, at 1 p.m. Signin begins at noon. Prizes awarded. A special shoot will be held for half a hog.

Game/Movie Night Game/Movie Night will be held at Warfordsburg Senior Center March 7, weather permitting, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Seniors 60 and older are welcome to come and join in the games. All are welcome to bring a game. Bring a bag of chips or something to snack on and join the fun. A movie will be shown for those who like to just sit and watch a movie and eat popcorn. Line Dance Fulton County Line Dance Club will hold line dance sessions every Wednesday (except the first Wednesday of the month) beginning at 7 p.m., at VFW Post 655, Poplar Street, McConnellsburg. All are welcome. Come and learn some new steps. A $2 donation is appreciated.

Snowtubing As part of the Fulton Fatherhood Initiative Program, one of the goals at Fulton County Family Partnership Inc. is to encourage positive father/children interaction. Join us for some Friday night family fun at Whitetail Ski Resort on February 28. Tubing will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Fathers are free and the cost for all others is only $21 per person. Pesticide Meeting A pesticide recertification meeting will be held March 6, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., at McConnellsburg High School cafeteria. The program will give 2 Core and 2 Category credits. This will be the only program offered to the public in Fulton County so be sure to attend if needing credits. Teen Advisory Meeting The Teen Advisory Board ofe Fulton County Library will hold a monthly meeting in the library’s community room Friday, February 28, starting at 6 p.m. The group will be continuing their preparations for the upcoming Earth Day Festival. All teens age 13 to 19 are welcome to attend.

Singles Meeting Knobsville Singles will meet Monday, March 10, at 9 a.m. at K’s Place.

Legion Meeting American Legion Post 561 active members regular meeting is the first Tuesday of every month at 7 p.m. Auxiliary members meet the second Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. Members of both organizations are urged to attend.

PARSE Meeting Pennsylvania Association of Retired State Employees (PARSE) has a 9:00 a.m. breakfast meeting on the second Wednesday of every month at McConnellsburg FOVA (VFW). Friends Of Meadow Grounds Meeting Friends of Meadow Grounds Lake holds a monthly meeting on the fourth Monday of every month at 6 p.m. at Community State Bank at 415 Fulton Drive (runs from the Giant to Cito Road). The public is invited to attend and contribute.


Community Wellness/Silver Sneakers/Prime Community Wellness/Silver Sneakers/Prime will be held Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, from 6 a.m. to 7 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., and Wednesday and Friday, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., at Fulton County Medical Center cardiopulmonary rehab gym. Immunization Clinics The Department of Health is providing public immunization clinics by appointment only at the following locations: Fulton County Medical Center – every Thursday from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.; Hustontown Senior Center – fourth Friday of every month from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.; Warfordsburg Senior Center – third Friday of every month from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Eligible at low cost if underinsured (insurance does not cover the vaccine) or uninsured. Blood Drive There will be a Red Cross blood drive Thursday, February 27, in McConnellsburg High School gym from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Open to the community.

Volunteers Needed Lutheran Home Care and Hospice is in need of caring individuals interested in becoming hospice volunteers. Free training is provided. Training classes will be held at Lutheran Home Care and Hospice, 2700 Luther Drive, Chambersburg, on March 12, 19 and 26, from 8 a.m. to noon. Forestry/Wildlife Conference All forest landowners or anyone interested in wildlife and forests, are invited to attend the 17th annual Forestry and Wildlife Conference, sponsored by Woodland Owners of the Southern Alleghenies. The conference will be held at Breezewood Firehall Saturday, March 8, 2014, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and will include a hot lunch. The theme of this year’s conference highlights good forest management, with a special emphasis on understanding forest history and maintaining archeological sites or artifacts in private forests. Benefit Book Sale A giant benefit book sale will be held May 9-11. Over 60,000 new and used books of all types, plus CDs, maps, sheet music, magazines, videotapes and artwork will be offered for sale at bargain prices at the 30th annual Friends of Legal Services book sale at Laird Hall on the Wilson College campus in Chambersburg. SF Kindergarten Registration Southern Fulton School District will hold kindergarten registration March 12 and March 13, 2014. Hunter/Trapper Course Fulton County Hunter/Trapper course will be offered Saturday, March 29, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Fulton County Pistol and Rifle Club. Preregistration is required. Free Tax Preparation Chambersburg Tax Aide Program and AARP Foundation will offer free tax preparation in Chambersburg and McConnellsburg to low- to moderate-income families. Horse Pasture Workshop Franklin County Conservation District and the Natural Resources Conservation Service will host a Healthy Horse Pasture Workshop Saturday, April 12, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Welsh Run Stables in Mercersburg. Topics to be covered will include, biology and management of forages, benefits and risks of grazing, the importance of rotational grazing and pasture maintenance, weed identification, soil testing, manure management and an overview of current regulations that affect horse owners.

Camp Cadet Applications Fulton County Camp Cadet is accepting applications for the 2014 Camp Cadet to be held at Sinoquipe Scout Reservation in Fort Littleton June 1-6. Applicants must be residents of Fulton County between the ages of 12 through 15 before June 1 and there is no cost to the cadet. Applicants may obtain applications through their school presentations or at the Pennsylvania State Police Barracks at 717-485-3131. Applications will be accepted through March 15, 2014.

Free Clothing Dorothy’s Tip Top Thrift Shop will host a clothing giveaway Saturday, March 1, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Hustontown Firehall. Also available will be ham and bean soup and chicken corn soup. Anyone planning to attend is asked to donate a bag of plastic eggs for the upcoming annual egg hunt.

Ham Potpie Dinner An all-you-can-eat ham potpie dinner will be held Saturday, March 8, at 4 p.m., at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in Shade Gap. Proceeds benefit local children to attend United Methodist’s children’s camp.

Spaghetti Dinner Southern Fulton PTA is sponsoring a spaghetti dinner and a show at the elementary school, Saturday, March 29, at 6 p.m. Featured will be national awardwinning vocalist Sandy Uttley performing a tribute to Patsy Cline with classic country and oldies. Spaghetti Fundraiser A spaghetti fundraiser, sponsored by Hancock Lioness Club, will be held at Hancock American Legion Sunday, March 2, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Cost is $7 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under. Proceeds benefit local scholarships, local food bank and Lions Camp Merrick for diabetic children.

Pancake Supper Needmore Bible Church will hold a pancake supper in the fellowship hall March 1, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Served will be regular, buckwheat, chocolate chip and blueberry pancakes, sausage gravy and biscuits, home fries, scrambled eggs, puddin, ponhaus, sausage, dessert and beverage. Revival Services Revival services will be held at Pleasant Ridge Church of the Brethren Sunday morning, March 9, through Sunday morning, March 16. Sunday morning services will be held at 10:30 a.m. and evening services at 7 p.m. Rev. Paul Williams will be guest evangelist.
