Car Strikes Utility Pole

A McConnellsburg woman escaped harm when her southbound 2005 Dodge Neon crossed Great Cove Road and struck a utility pole on Tuesday, February 11.

According to state police reports, 18-year-old Chelsey Nicole Lanehart was wearing a seat belt when the accident occurred at 7:48 a.m. near the intersection of Pleasant Ridge Road. She was, however, transported to Fulton County Medical Center for precautionary reasons.

The Neon was towed from the scene by Bard’s Towing, and the Belfast Township roadway remained closed for approximately two hours due to downed wires. Assisting state police on the scene were Needmore Fire and EMS as well as Frontier Communications.

Driver Cited In Old 126 Accident

A Bear, Del., man was cited for driving a vehicle at unsafe speeds following a single vehicle accident along Old 126 in Brush Creek Township.

Pennsylvania State Police in McConnellsburg said Robert A. Wilkie lost traction while cresting a hill just north of the intersection of Smith Lane on February 8. Wilkie’s 2008 Ford Ranger spun clockwise and off the roadways where it struck some shrubbery.

Wilkie, 58, was not injured and was wearing a seat belt. His vehicle was towed from the crash scene by Fischer’s Towing.

Juvenile Charged In DUI Crash

A 17-year-old boy from Hustontown faces charges of driving under the influence and various traffic offenses following a crash in the parking lot of Forbes Road Junior/Senior High School.

According to state police reports, the juvenile was allegedly under the influence of a combination of drugs when the accident occurred on Friday, February 7, at 8 a.m. The juvenile reportedly struck two parked vehicles in the school’s parking lot. He was arrested and transported to the state police barracks. Charges will be filed through the Fulton County Probation Office.

Love Notes Lead To PFA Violation

A 25-year-old Fort Loudon man faces a protectionfrom abuse violation in connection with an incident at the Sheetz convenience store. State police alleged Robert Anthony Hood delivered several handwritten “love” notes to a woman from Crystal Spring on Wednesday, February 19, at 4 p.m. at the McConnellsburg Sheetz. Charges have been filed through Magisterial District Judge Tamela Heming, who presided over Hood’s arraignment.

Local Man Cited For DUI

A McConnellsburg man is being accused of driving under the influence of prescription drugs following a traffic stop along Lincoln Way East on Wednesday, February 12.

Pennsylvania State Police in McConnellsburg alleged Charles Early Kennedy, 47, of McConnellsburg, failed to stop at a stop sign or use his turn signal near the intersection of South Seventh Street at 4:56 p.m. Kennedy was arrested and charged through the office of Magisterial District Judge Wendy Mellott.

Hit-And-Run Reported

Pennsylvania State Police in McConnellsburg investigated a hit-and-run accident along Lincoln Way East on Wednesday, February 12.

Reports indicate a dark green truck with a cab and blue light on the roof left 1147 Lincoln Way East at 10 a.m. but drove into a fence separating two homes. The truck, which also has a emblem on the passenger side door, reportedly fled the scene heading westbound through McConnellsburg Borough. Anyone having further information pertinent to this crash should contact state police Trooper Hoover at 717-485-3131.

Police Investigate Theft

A Maryland temporary tag was removed from a license plate belonging to a 43- year- old Needmore woman on Thursday, February 13, at 5 p.m. The theft occurred at 4331 Timber Ridge Road in Thompson Township. Anyone having additional information concerning this theft is asked to call state police Trooper Piasecki at 717-485-3131.

Vehicle Window Damaged

The rear window of a vehicle belonging to a 66-yearold McConnellsburg man was intentionally damaged between midnight and 3 a.m. on Sunday, February 2. The vehicle was parked on the 100 block of Woodside Drive in Ayr Township when the mischief occurred. Inmate Assaulted

An inmate at the Franklin County Jail told state police investigators in Chambersburg he was assaulted on August 25, 2013. The victim, a 30-year-old McConnellsburg man, said he was assaulted by a fellow inmate between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m.

Two Vehicles Crash On I-70

Pennsylvania State Police in McConnellsburg responded to a two-vehicle accident along the westbound lanes of Interstate 70 that injured two over the weekend.

Reports indicate that on Sunday, February 16, Steve William Berbes Jr., 48, of Gaithersburg, Md., lost control of his 2001 Ford Expedition while changing lanes. The vehicle travelled onto the northern berm and struck a guiderail at 5:38 p.m. before crossing the road and striking the right passenger side bumper of a 2006 Ford E-350 Super Duty driven by Tahirah M. Lewis, 35, of Baltimore, Md. Due to impact, Lewis’s vehicle travelled onto an embankment on the southern berm.

Berbes was wearing a seat belt and escaped injury. Lewis and passenger Danielle Gandy Dunn, 37, of Gary, Ind., were wearing seat belts as well but suffered minor injuries.

Lewis’s vehicle suffered disabling damage and was removed from the scene by Fischer’s Towing. State police were also assisted on the scene by Breezewood Fire and EMS.

Needmore Man Not Injured

Two Needmore area men were not harmed during a single-vehicle accident along Great Cove Road on Monday, February 17.

According to state police reports, 50-year-old David L. Rosenberry was travelling southbound when his 1993 Ford F-150 slid across the snow-covered roadway at 11:30 p.m. The truck struck a guiderail with its front driver’s side corner. Police noted that following impact, the truck jumped over the rail and slid along it for approximately 30 feet before striking a utility pole just south of the intersection of Wava Lane.

Rosenberry was wearing a seat belt as was passenger Andrew L. Mowen, 22, Rosenberry will be cited by state police for failure to drive a vehicle at safe speeds.

Tires Damaged

A 64-year-old McConellsburg man reported to state police investigators his vehicle tires were damaged between 10 a.m. on February 10 and 11 a.m. on February 15. The vehicle was located on the 100 block of Lincoln Way West in McConnellsburg Borough when the mischief occurred.
