Coroner’s Office Closes Death Investigation

The Fulton County Coroner’s Office closed its investigation into the death of an 18-year-old McConnellsburg man last September.

Fulton County Coroner Berley Souders told the “News” Friday the investigation has concluded in the death of Lucas Daniel Youngblood of 269 Meadow Mountain Drive. Cause of death was “ accidental,” Souders said, and linked to a “gunshot wound.”

The coroner’s office was dispatched to the Mc- Connellsburg home at 12:55 a.m. on September 6, 2013. Youngblood was pronounced dead at the scene by Deputy Coroner Robert Fleegle at 1:30 a.m.

Money Stolen

A 79-year- old McConnellsburg man told state police investigators a large sum of money was stolen from his Great Cove Road home between September 1, 2013, and December 8, 2013. The amount of missing money was not divulged by police.

Vehicle Overturns On I-70

Two Fort Wayne, Ind., residents escaped injury on Wednesday, January 22, when their eastbound 2002 Freightliner Sprinter overturned in the median strip of Interstate 70.

Pennsylvania State Police in McConnellsburg said 57-year- old Dawn M. De- Santo travelled onto the rumble strips, causing her to jerk the steering wheel of the Freightliner. The vehicle spun in a counterclockwise motion and overturned in the center median at 7:04 p.m.

The Freightliner was removed from the Brush Creek Township accident scene by Fischer’s Towing. State police were aided on the scene by Breezewood Fire and EMS.

DeSanto and her passenger, Soleil Tanisha Hepler, 41, were both wearing seat belts, police added.

Residents Involved In Interstate Accident

Pennsylvania State Police in McConnellsburg responded to the scene of a one-vehicle accident involving two Warfordsburg residents last Wednesday evening.

Reports indicate 22-yearold Cassie Lynn Cain was travelling in the left lane at 7:56 p.m. when she travelled onto the berm and struck a road sign with her 2001 Dodge Neon. The car went into the center median where it became disabled. Towing was provided by Fischer’s Towing, and state police were assisted by Breezewood Fire and EMS

Cain was not injured nor was her passenger, a 1-yearold girl.

Car Towed From I-70 Accident Scene

A 2002 Oldsmobile Alero was towed from the eastbound lanes of Interstate 70 last Tuesday morning following an accident in Bethel Township.

Pennsylvania State Police in McConnellsburg reported 39-year-old Warfordsburg resident Daniel Gene Stahle attempted to switch lanes to pass a tractor-trailer and lost control of his car at 6:40 a.m. The Alero spun counter clockwise onto the berm and struck a concrete barrier as well as a guiderail.

Stahle was wearing a seat belt but suffered minor injuries. State police were assisted on the scene by Skeeter’s Towing from Berkeley Springs, W.Va.

Car Disabled In Accident

A 2010 Toyota Corolla was towed from the scene of a single-vehicle accident in Bethel Township last Tuesday, state police said.

The westbound car suffered disabling damage when it spun clockwise onto the berm and struck a guiderail. Following impact, the car re- entered I- 70, crossed the centerline and came to a rest in the median strip at 11:12 a.m.

Driver Joanna Marie Soliven Acosta, 23, of Virginia Beach, Va., was wearing a seat belt and was not injured. State police were assisted on the scene by Fischer’s Towing.

Access-Device Fraud Reported

A 52-year- old McConnellsburg woman told state police investigators she was the victim of access-device fraud on Monday, January 20. The woman’s debit card information was reportedly used to make an online purchase.

Driver Cited In Crash

A 50-year- old McConnellsburg woman faces charges of failure to drive a vehicle at safe speeds following an accident along Lincoln Highway last week across from the truck pull-off on Scrub Ridge.

According to state police, on January 20 Deborah A. Wilson lost control of her eastbound 1994 Chevrolet Blazer while rounding a right-hand curve in the Licking Creek Township roadway. Wilson’s vehicle spun clockwise onto the southern berm where it struck an embankment and rolled onto its roof.

Wilson and her 10-yearold male passenger, also from McConnellsburg, suffered injuries ranging from moderate to major during the 7:56 p.m. accident. They were transported to Fulton County Medical Center for treatment. Both were wearing seat belts.

Company Vehicle Damaged

A company vehicle belonging to Service Access and Management was damaged while parked at a location along Buchanan Trail in Ayr Township. The damage is believed to have occurred between 5 p.m. on January 14 and 12:30 p.m. on January 23. Damage has been estimated at $300. Anyone having additional information concerning this mischief is urged to contact state police Trooper Hoover at 717- 485-3131.

Theft By Deception

McConnellsburg state police are investigating a theft by deception that allegedly took place December 24, 2013, between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. at a Warfordsburg address. Police said an unknown individual deceived a 23-year-old female from Warfordsburg to make $2067 in transactions on the Internet.

Single-Vehicle Crash

Sarah Kogod, 21, of Chevy Chase, Md., was charged by McConnellsburg state police with roadways laned for traffic after she lost control of vehicle January 26 as she drove north on a slush-covered Great Cove Road near Sheep Skin Hollow Road in Dublin Township. Her 2012 Toyota Rav 4 traveled off the road at 5:36 p.m., striking the northbound embankment, and then crossed both lanes of traffic before striking a guardrail on the southbound roadside and coming to a rest. The driver was not injured and was able to remove the vehicle from the roadway.
