Madeline M. McQuait St. Thomas, 98

Madeline M. McQuait, 98, St.Thomas, died Friday, January 24, 2014, at the home of her daughter, Sandra Smith of St. Thomas.

She was born to George and Myra Mills Bolinger on March 13, 1915, on a small farm near Waterfall, Pa. She was the youngest of 10.

She was preceded in death by four brothers: Ray, Wilda, Fred and Larkin Bolinger; five sisters: Leona Shafer, Ethel Thomas, Bernice Shafer, Zola Alloway and Mabel Yetter; her husband, Blem C. McQuait, her only grandchild, Brian L. Auman, and a son-in-law Joseph E. Smith.

She lived most of her life in New Grenada and Waterfall, graduating from Hustontown High School Class of 1935. She was the school pianist and excelled in basketball. Although she had only six piano lessons as a child she had a God-given talent. A special touch that was enjoyed by all who listened. She was a faithful church pianist for many years at the Church of God in New Grenada and played for many weddings and funerals. She gave piano lessons to numerous students in Fulton and Huntingdon counties. Her greatest talents were mother and homemaker.

She is survived by many nieces and nephews.

Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, Chambersburg will handle arrangements. There will be no services. Interment will be at a later date.
