MHS/MMS To Present “Grease”
Students at McConnellsburg High and Middle School will present “ Grease” in March. “Grease” takes the audience back to high school in the 1950s. The boys wear short hair, sport motorcycle jackets, pegged pants and T-shirts. The girls wear beehive hairdos, chew gum, wear pedal pushers, white bobby socks, cinch belts and long felt skirts.
Danny Zuko (Aaron Strait) is a member of the greaser gang (Ashton Doyle, Cody Parson, Austin Shelley and Brice Feagley) at Rydell High and Sandy (Hannah Ott) is a sweet, innocent girl who has transferred there from the confines of a strict school.
Over the summer the two fell in love but lead very different lives. When Danny finally decides not to live up to her image of him as an all-American track star, she puts on tight jeans and joins the “Pink Ladies” (Sara Wenschhof, Katelynn Mellott, Grace Youngblood and Abby Peck) an all-girl gang. On the first day of school Miss Lynch (Jessica Miller) welcomes former cheerleader Patty (Sarah Hollinshead) and class valedictorian Eugene (Logan Conner).
Go back in time and attend the high school prom where Kenickie comes to the dance with his date, Cha-cha (Tierra Lake) and disc jockey Vince Fonatine (Larkin Shearer) begins the dance contest. There will be lots of comedy, dancing and classic songs such as “Greased Lightning,” “Beauty School Dropout,” “Freddy My Love,” “ Those Magic Changes,” and “Born To Hand Jive.”
Other characters include Johnny Casino (Danny Booth), Teen Angel ( Doug Seiders), cheerleaders (DeAnne Dickerson, Hannah Paylor, Brittany Parson, Kassie Stermer, Mikayla Christy, Kimmy Harris, Taylor Lake, Alexa Helser, Sarah Strait and Veronica Stone); and Rydell High School students (Shelby Long, Leah Mellott, Emily Kendall, Kirsten Wilford, Rebecca Wenschhof, Grace Strait, Courtney Beasley, Lakota Elkins, Amber Terrell, Tessa Peck, Cory Colls, Autumn Bailey, Jason Pecho, Billy Crowder, Damon Knepper, Cooper Toothman and Kaleb Skiles).
Mark calendars for March 20, 21 and 22 at 7 p.m., and Sunday at 2 p.m. for a matinee in the high school auditorium. Admission is adults $5 and students $4. Monetary contributions can be made to MHS Musical, c/o Nancy Shearer, 151 East Cherry Street, Mc- Connellsburg, PA 17233.
