Walking At Alumni Gym McConnellsburg Alumni & Friends Assoc. will open the alumni community gym every Monday, Wednesday and Friday between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., for anyone to get out of the cold and exercise in the gym. This is a free activity. If Central Fulton School District is closed because of the weather, the alumni gym will also be closed. Any questions call 485-0221 or 377-3643.

Little League Registration Fulton County Little League will hold open registration for the 2014 season at the Little League clubhouse located at Lions Community Park in Mc- Connellsburg. Dates are January 31, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.; February 1, 9 a.m .to noon. Boys and girls can register for T-ball (5- 6 years); Farm League (7-8 years); and Little League (9-12 years). Registration fee is $35 for first child and $30 for each additional child. First-year players should bring a copy of their birth certificate. Fly Tying Class Basic fly tying classes will be held beginning, Thursday, January 30, from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., through February 27. A Cappella Music Sharon Mennonite Bible Institute invites all to attend a night of a cappella music, Wednesday, February 7, at 7:30 p.m. Located 1 1/2 miles west of Harrisonville along Rt. 30 at the old Green Hill School.

CF Hall Walking Central Fulton hall walking will run until the end of March. Hall walking will be at the high school Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Check the Web site for updates at www.cfsd.info.

Sweetheart Ball The 30th annual Beta Sigma Phi Sweetheart Ball will be held February 8 at McConnellsburg American Legion. Tickets are $40 per couple. Doors open at 6 p.m., dinner at 6:30 p.m., followed by dancing and live and silent auctions. Funds raised are to benefit Renewing Hope Ministries, Ladies Recovery Center and other local charities. FR Youth Baseball/Softball Registration Forbes Road youth baseball/softball registration will be held February 8 in the old gym form 9 a.m. to noon, and January 29 and February 5 in the new gym from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. or online at www.leaguelineup.com/fryb.

Softball Registration BiValley Girls Softball is taking registrations for travel teams that play in Chambersburg Suburban League. Plans are made for 12U, 14U and 18U teams to play in CSL. 12U games begin at the end of April. 14U and 18U won’t start until high school ball season is nearing an end. Line Dance Fulton County Line Dance Club will hold line dance sessions every Wednesday (except the first Wednesday of the month) beginning at 7 p.m. at VFW Post 655, Poplar Street, McConnellsburg. All are welcome. Come and learn some new steps. A $2 donation is appreciated.

P.O.W.E.R. Meetings P.O.W.E.R. (Parents Offering Wisdom, Education and Release) will meet February 20 and 24. The goal of the group is to support and educate the community, the addict and the families of addicts to the issues and problems that can occur when dealing with addicts and their recovery programs. Emotional and possible financial support are also offered to any individual who might need it to successfully overcome an addiction. The meeting is held at 292 Buchanan Trail. Legion Meeting American Legion Post 561 active members regular meeting is the first Tuesday of every month at 7 p.m. Auxiliary members meet the second Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. Members of both organizations are urged to attend.

Library Teen Board Meeting Fulton County Library’s Teen Advisory Board will meet Friday, January 31, at 6 p.m., in the community room for its monthly meeting. The evening will include planning for the annual Earth Day Festival. All teens ages 13 to 19 are welcome to attend.

Historical Society Meeting Fulton County Historical Society will hold its winter general membership meeting at 7 p.m., January 31, at McConnellsburg United Presbyterian Church. The program for the evening will be a presentation by Steve M. French, author of “Imboden’s Brigade During the Gettysburg Campaign.” The meeting is open to the public.

Free Blood Pressure Screenings Free blood pressure screenings will be given at the following locations: Mc- Connellsburg Senior Center – the first Thursday of every month from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.; Hann’s Apartments – the first Thursday of every month from 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.; Warfordsburg Senior Center – the first Tuesday of every month from 11 a.m. to noon; and Hustontown Senior Center – the third Thursday of every month from 11 a.m. to noon and Mt. View Apartments – second Tuesday monthly 11 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Free Tax Preparation Chambersburg Tax Aide Program and AARP Foundation will offer free tax preparation in Chambersburg and McConnellsburg to low- to moderate-income families beginning February 3. Site locations and dates: Eugene Clark Jr. Community Center, 235 South Third Street, Chambersburg: 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays; American Legion Post 46, Philadelphia Avenue, Chambersburg: 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Wednesdays and Fridays; and Fulton Theatre Building, North Second Street, McConnellsburg: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Wednesdays.

Veterans Assistance Dan McIntyre, assistant state service office of Veterans of Foreign Wars, will be at McConnellsburg VFW to assist veterans with service-connected disability claims. Breakfast Fair Ridge Assembly of God, Shade Gap, will hold a breakfast Saturday, February 1, in the ministry center at 6:30 a.m. Menu will be chipped beef and biscuit, egg casserole, pancakes and buckwheat cakes, sausage patties, coffee, juice and tea. Donations accepted. All proceeds go to the purchase of supplies for the upcoming Germany mission trip.

Pancake Supper Whips Cove Church, 5044 Moss Road, Warfordsburg, will hold a pancake supper Saturday, February 1, at 5 p.m. Served will be buttermilk and old-fashioned buckwheat cakes, ham, sausage, puddin’, sausage gravy and eggs, orange juice and coffee. Pancake Supper Knobsville United Methodist Church is holding a pancake supper Saturday, February 8, from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Buttermilk pancakes, buckwheat pancakes, sausage, sausage gravy and beverage will be available by donation.

Murder Mystery Dinner A Murder Mystery dinner, hosted by Forbes Road Athletic Association Boosters, will be held at Post 561 American Legion February 15. Doors open at 5 p.m. and meal at 6 p.m. Show follows the meal. Advanced ticket purchase required: adults $35, students $20. Benefit Bake Sale A benefit bake sale for Nita White will be held February 8, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., at Hancock Antique Mall, 266 N. Pennsylvania Ave, Hancock. Lots of sweets and treats for your valentine, including chocolate-covered strawberries, candies, fudge, pies and more. Nita White was recently diagnosed with AML leukemia and is currently undergoing treatment. All proceeds will benefit Nita and her family.

Family Game Feed The annual family game feed will be held February 15 at Calvary Independent Baptist Church, 140 McGoverns Lane, McConnellsburg. Dinner will be at 5 p.m. Bring trophies to display. Prizes will be given for antler scoring contest. Demonstration of live falcons, hawks and owls. Prizes awarded including deer hunt, guided pheasant hunt, fishing trip and deer rifle. Soup Night McConnellsburg United Presbyterian Church soup night will begin Wednesday, February 5, with the last night being April 9, from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Any cancellations due to weather will follow the Central Fulton School District schedule.

Video Center United Methodist Church will present the video “Isaiah 9:10 Judgement” Wednesday, February 5, at 6 p.m. A biblical prophecy decoded by Rabbi Jonathan Cahn, best-selling author of the “Harbinger.” The two-hour video compares the United States with ancient Israel when the Israelites failed to heed God’s warnings. Light refreshments will be served between the two videos. The church is located between Waterfall and Hustontown off Rt. 655, turn at Dublin Mills Road, go approximately two miles, church is on the right. No cost and everyone is welcome.
