McConnellsburg FFA members Jordan Mellott and Michala Christy received their BBF Area FFA degree earlier in December at a ceremony in Bedford. Zach Cloughley also received his degree but was unable to attend the ceremony. The three were among approximately 24 FFA members from Blair, Bedford and Fulton FFA chapters to receive this award. They qualified for the degree because of their work on their supervised agriculture experience projects.

Jordan keeps track of the work he does for Fulton Valley Ag Services as his SAE employment project. He has gained valuable experience the past two years helping with planting, harvesting and feeding livestock.

Michala’s SAE book records the work she does raising, showing and selling purebred rabbits. Her rabbitry has grown over the past few years and is quite successful showing at state and national rabbit shows.

Zach Cloughley’s entrepreneurship SAE books record the work he does raising sheep and pigs for the Fulton County Fair and for the Pennsylvania Farm Show. Zach thoroughly enjoys showing and raising livestock because it teaches students how to work hard and about responsibility.

In addition to their SAEs all three members are active in local FFA activities. Michala also serves as the treasurer for the Mc- Con-nellsburg chapter this year.

Jordan, Michala and Zach are juniors this year and will be eligible for their Keystone FFA degree when they are seniors.
