Clifford V. Speer Jr. McConnellsburg, 76

Clifford V. Speer Jr., 76, McConnellsburg, died Friday, December 6, 2013, at Chambersburg Hospital.

He was born October 13, 1937, in Waynesboro, Pa., the son of the late Clifford and Leatha Wilhide Speer.

He was married to Judy Souders Speer March 10, 1978.

Upon graduating from high school, he served his country in the United States Navy.

He retired from Mack Trucks after 36 years where he was a painter and an overhaul repairman. He was an avid reader, a lover of history and arts and crafts. He also enjoyed spending his time watching sports, high school football and spending time in the outdoors.

He was a member of the Franklin-Fulton Auto Club where he served as treasurer for 10 years, a member of the Civil War Round Table and Cito United Methodist Church.

Surviving are five children: Cliff, Jeffrey W. (husband of Kelly) Speer of Longmont, Colo.; David L. (husband of Meghan) Speer of Greencastle; Karen (wife of Jerry) Fedele of Shippensburg; Kristina Speer of Chambersburg; and Deanna Miller of McConnellsburg; six grandchildren; and a great-grand daughter; one sister, Darlene Snyder of Waynesboro; and one brother, Gary Speer of Waynesboro.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers: Ronnie, Don and Bobby Speer.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 11, 2013, from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m., at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home in Mc- Connellsburg, with the family receiving friends from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. A funeral service will be held Wednesday evening, December 11, 2013, at 7 p.m., at the funeral home.
