Winds Limit Use Of Balloons In Philly Parade

PHILADELPHIA (AP) – Officials say gusty winds limited use of balloons during the annual Thanksgiving Day Parade in Philadelphia.

Parade sponsor WPVI-TV said officials announced early Thursday that the balloons would not be seen along the entire route of the 6abc/ Dunkin’ Donuts Thanksgiving Parade.

Instead, officials said, some of the larger balloons were grounded out of concern for the safety of participants and spectators. Smaller ones were limited to Eakins Oval and the broadcast area near the Philadelphia Museum of Art.

The National Weather Service reported winds of about 17 miles per hour gusting to 28 miles per hour at Philadelphia International Airport.
