A local man was remanded to the Franklin County Jail over the weekend following an undercover drug investigation in the McConnellsburg area of Fulton County.

Twenty-threeyear old Loren Ryan Stains, of McConnellsburg, was incarcerated in lieu of $50,000 bail amid allegations of delivery and possession of a controlled substance.

In a news release issued by Pennsylvania State Police in Mc- Connellsburg, an undercover officer stated several investigations were conducted in the county by officers with Troop G during November. Police said they learned through those investigations that several local residents were making “heroin runs” to Baltimore, Md. Marijuana and synthetic marijuana were also bought along with the heroin.

The drugs were being transported back to McConnellsburg where they were repacked and sold, the undercover officer noted.

On Saturday, November 30, state police said they learned that Stains had returned from such a trip to his residence located at 1 Hillside Estates. Police alleged they were able to make a controlled purchase of marijuana from Stains at his home.

Following the buy, a warrant was obtained for Stains arrest as was a search warrant for the Todd Township residence. At the time of his arrest, officers said they discovered two packs of synthetic marijuana and $170, which included the state police drug buy money. Found inside the home were one to two grams of heroin, several packages of synthetic marijuana, 25 prescription pills, assorted packaging material and a digital scale, police alleged.

Stains was taken into custody without incident before being arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Tamela Heming. Additional charges of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance are pending.

State police undercover officers were assisted by the patrol and crime units of the McConnellsburg state police barracks.
