SF To Present Christmas Concert
Southern Fulton High School Vocal Music Department will present “North Pole Celebration,” its annual Christmas concert Sunday, December 8, 2013, at 3 p.m., in the high school auditorium. The concert will feature senior high chorus, junior high chorus, Indian Eight, the Sixth Tribe and Guitar Ensemble under the direction of Dan Meredith.
Senior high chorus and junior high chorus are curricular classes that rehearse during the school day. The Indian Eight is an extracurricular octet of senior high students. The Sixth Tribe is a select group of sixth graders that will be performing in the high school concert. Guitar Ensemble features three students from the high school guitar class.
Guitar Ensemble will begin the concert with a performance of “Canon in D” by Johann Pachelbel. The choirs will perform new and familiar holiday music in a variety of settings. Familiar selections include “Deck the Halls,” “ Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!” and “Most Wonderful Time of the Year.” “Holy Night, Silent Night” is a unique setting combining the timeless “O Holy Night” with “Silent Night.” The song “Dinner Bell Carol” features a humorous look at the season set to the tune of “ Carol of the Bells.” The concert concludes with the medley “North Pole Rock and Roll” featuring “Rockin’ On Top of the World,” “Dig That Crazy Santa Claus” and “Santa Claus is Coming to Town.”
The public is encouraged to attend and celebrate the holiday season with these talented students. Admission to the concert is $4 for adults and $3 for students. Proceeds benefit the choral activity fund.
