McConnellsburg Middle School and High School choirs will be performing their annual Christmas concert Thursday evening, December 5, in McConnellsburg High School auditorium.

There is no cost for this concert, though donations will be gladly accepted. For those familiar with the concerts, this is the earliest Christmas concert in many years.

The middle school chorus opens the program with two lively tunes, “ Christmas in Tahiti” and “Bethlehem Boy,” and a mellow piece “The Happiest Time of the Year.” The middle school girls will next sing “Santa Baby” with Hannah Black and Madison Sullivan as soloists and the middle school boys will follow with a tricky version of “We Wish You A Merry Christmas,” featuring a quartet consisting of Landon Conner, Logan Conner, Evan Dickerson and Kaleb Skiles.

The middle school chorus concludes its portion of the concert presenting the song “Hush.” The senior chorus will join next to present a combined number entitled “Hodie Christus Natus Est.” The remainder of the concert will feature the senior chorus opening with the traditional “Joy To The World,” followed by a rather new tune called “A Whisper, A Candle, A Promise,” featuring Sara Winegardner on flute. A Christmas gospel tune, “I Saw A Star,” is next, with a “Medieval Carol Fantasy” proceeding.

The senior solo for the night will once again be “O Holy Night,” featuring Chiara Thomas, Larkin Shearer and Katelynn Mellott. A senior duet will feature DeAnne Dickerson and Leah Mellott singing “What Child Is This.”

The concert closes with three popular Christmas tunes, “Grown Up Christmas List,” “Rise Up, Shepherd, and Follow,” and “Let It Snow.”
