Mary E. Knepper McConnellsburg, 97
Mary Elizabeth “Mom” Knepper, 97, a resident of the Long Term Care unit of the Fulton County Medical Center for nearly four years, Mc- Connellsburg, and formerly of Waterfall, died at 2:45 a.m., Friday, November 22, 2013, at the Medical Center.
Born August 24, 1916 in Dublin Mills, she was the daughter of the late Martin and Violet (Russell) Grissinger. She was married to David P. Knepper on September 20, 1934. He preceded in death on February 2, 1967.
She is survived by four daughters and two sons: Mary Jane Black and husband John, McConnellsburg; Dorothy Spade and husband Coy, Needmore; Violet Culler and husband Fred, McConnellsburg; Charles Knepper and wife Penny, Waterfall; David A. Knepper and wife Gayle, Chambersburg; and Sharon Snyder and husband Joe, Hustontown, along with sonin law Ronnie Foreman, Broad Top, Pa; a sister Betty Lane, Cleaves, Ohio; and 22 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren and 17 greatgreat grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Edith Forman, and a daughter, Shirley Parsons, and husband Bill, along with a grandson, David Foreman; great-grandson, Ryan Foreman; and great-granddaughter Sierra Coons; four sisters and one brother: Grace Grissinger, Clara Group, Bertha Curfman, Eva Cornelius and Allen Grissinger.
She was a member of Center United Methodist Church, Waterfall, where she belonged to the church’s Women’s Group. She also belonged to Knobsville Single’s Club and Hustontown Area Volunteer Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary.
She was a homemaker.
She enjoyed spending time with her family at North 40 Camp in Lycoming County. She liked flower gardening, quilting, reading, bus trips and spending time with her grandchildren. She had traveled to India to visit her children and grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Monday, November 25, 2013, at Center United Methodist Church, Waterfall. Pastor Richard Bernhard and Pastor Betty Secrest officiated. Interment was in Center Cemetery.
M. R. Brown Funeral Home, Hustontown, was in charge of arrangements.
