Kevin L. Kidd Huntingdon, 53

Major Kevin Lee Kidd, U.S. Army (Retired), 53, Huntingdon, died unexpectedly at 2:33 a.m., Monday, November 11, 2013, at Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, Hershey.

Born April 15, 1960, in Huntingdon, he was a son of Harry Kidd of Enola, Pa., and the late Anna Mary (Hetrick) Kidd. He was united in marriage to the former Helen Elizabeth Hopkins on June 17, 1995, in Huntingdon. Mrs. Kidd survives at their residence.

In addition to his father and wife, he is survived by his two sons: Ian Michael Kidd and Nicholas Elliotte Kidd, both at home; and one brother, Max Hetrick of Huntingdon; a special nephew, Max Hetrick, and his wife, Toni, of Huntingdon; and a very close brother in-law, John Hopkins of Huntingdon; as well as, many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and one greatnephew, cousins and countless friends.

He was a member of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Huntingdon, where he was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Council #4644, Knights of Columbus.

He was a member of the Boy Scouts of America Troop #76, Mount Union, where he achieved Eagle Scout and was a brotherhood member of the Order of Arrow, Monaken Lodge #103. He was a member of Alexandria Shooting Club and Huntingdon County Teacher’s Association, serving as union president from 2005-2013. He was also a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity, Lock Haven, and was past commander of the PA Army National Guard Armory at Huntingdon.

He was a 1978 graduate of Mount Union Area High School and received his Bachelor of Science degree from Lock Haven University in 1988.

He was a high school hisnie tory teacher at Huntingdon Area High School since 2001 and previously taught at Mc- Connellsburg High School. He was also the owner/operator of Raystown Shooters Services LLC, Huntingdon.

He served with the U.S. Army, 159th Aviation Battalion, 101st Airborne Divison, and subsequently in the Army National Guard of Pennsylvania and as a reserve of the U.S. Army, retiring with a total of 27 years of service.

He enjoyed hunting and shooting, was a coach of his sons’ various sports and actively participated in their events and activities. He especially loved spending time with his friends and family.

An Order of the Arrow Broken Arrow Ceremony was held at 8 p.m., Friday, November 15, at John B. Brown Funeral Home, Huntingdon, followed by a rosary and vigil service. Funeral mass was held at 11 a.m., Saturday, November 16, 2013, at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Huntingdon. Rev. Father David J. Arseneault officiated. Interment, with full military honors accorded, was at Mt. Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery, Huntingdon.
