James R. Boden Willow Hill, 66

James R. “Jim,” “Bo” Boden, 66, Willow Hill, Pa., died at 11:10 p.m., Wednesday, November 13, 2013, at Chambersburg Hospital.

Born June 7, 1947, in Hyndman, Bedford County, he was the son of the late Albert and Dorothy (Hughes) Boden.

His wife, Karen (Briggs) Boden, whom he married on June 13, 1969, at the First United Methodist Church, Mount Union, survives at their home.

Two children also survive: James R. “Jamie” Boden Jr., and wife Tonia of Roxbury; Tracie Long of McConnellsburg; three grandchildren: Amber Winegardner, Kyle Haselbarth and Abigail Boden, and two great-grandchildren: Alayna and Ayden; and a number of neices and nephews; siblings: Ruth Lautsbaugh, Newville; Min-

Foor of Harrisonville; Robert Boden of Mercersburg; and Lewis Boden of East Berlin.

Also preceding him in death are the following siblings: Sears, Charles, Richard and John Boden, and Evelyn Souders.

He retired from Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg, with more than 25 years service.

He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army, having served in Vietnam as a sergeant with the 1st Battalion, 44th Artillery, and also received a Purple Heart for wounds received in action.

He was affiliated with the Shady Pine Mennonite Church, Willow Hill and was a member of the Dry Run American Legion Post, and had attended school in the Southern Huntingdon Area School District.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting and collecting Indian relics, and loved his special dog, “Tomahawk Digger,” a Jack Russell Terrier.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Monday, November 18, 2013, at the Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, Mount Union. Pastor Marlin “Butch” Neil officiated and interment was in Germany Valley Cemetery, Shirleysburg.
