Prosecutors Rest In Slaying At Remote Cabin

WAYNESBURG, Pa. (AP) – Prosecutors in western Pennsylvania have rested their case against a man and woman charged in the shooting death of a man at a remote hunting cabin in southwestern Pennsylvania last year.

Thirty-three-year-old Jason Roe and 41-year- old Lana Roe are charged in Greene County with criminal homicide in the August 2012 shotgun slaying of 38- year-old Cordele Patterson of Grindstone in Wayne Township.

Jurors on Wednesday heard Jason Roe tell a television station after the shooting that “The guy was attacking my wife,’’ and “I did what I had to do.’’

Prosecutors also played a police video in which Jason Roe said after his capture in West Virginia that the two went to the cabin to retrieve items that were taken but were “ambushed.’’

Defense attorneys were to begin their case Thursday.
