Wanted Man Captured

Earlier this month, members of the Western Pennsylvania Fugitive Task Force in Johnstown, the Blair County Sheriff's Office and the Altoona Police arrested Michael John Burton of Altoona, who was recently reported in the “News” as a wanted person by Pennsylvania State Police, Troop G, for possession with intent to deliver heroin. Burton was also wanted by Maryland State Police on a felony arrest warrant and two felony arrest warrants from West Virginia.

He was taken into custody without incident on November 4 at 8:30 a.m. while eating at his kitchen table. Burton was transported to the local magistrate for arraignment and was committed to the Blair County jail in lieu of $100,000 bond.

Two Drivers Cited

Two drivers have been cited for careless driving in connection with an accident along Lincoln Highway on Thursday, November 7.

According to state police, Meghan L. Shadle, 22, of Chambersburg, was travelling eastbound at 6:13 p.m. when she swerved into the oncoming lane to avoid a 2004 Dodge Neon driven by Mark A. Roberts, 24, of Waterfall. Police noted Roberts was driving in front of Shadle’s 2000 Hyundai Elantra, which travelled onto the northern berm in a clockwise motion. The Elantra struck a tree and was towed from the scene.

Police said Roberts continued heading eastbound but later returned to the accident scene in Brush Creek Township just east of the intersection of Valley-Hi Road. Neither driver was injured.

Truck Overturns

A Harrisonville area man escaped injury when his westbound 2007 Ford Ranger overturned in a ditch along Lincoln Highway.

Pennsylvania State Police in McConnellsburg reported Kyle G. Miller, 22, failed to negotiate a turn in the Licking Creek Township roadway on Thursday, November 7. Miller’s truck travelled onto the southern berm just west of the intersection of Green Trail where it overturned at 5:50 p.m.

Miller was not wearing a seat belt. He will be cited for failure to drive at safe speeds.

McConnellsburg Man Cited For DUI

Pennsylvania State Police in McConnellsburg have charged 66-year- old Mc- Connellsburg resident Thomas C. Johnston with driving under the influence. Police said Johnston was pulled over by troopers for a traffic violation along Lincoln Way East near the intersection of Reservoir Road at 8:40 p.m. on November 9. Police alleged at that time Johnston was under the influence of alcohol. Johnston was charged through the office of Magisterial District Judge Wendy Mellott.

Key Fob Found

A key fob was found at the recycling bin in Hustontown, Dublin Township, on Tuesday, November 5, at 4:30 p.m. The fob is believed to be for a Chrysler van and can be claimed by contacting the Pennsylvania State Police barracks in McConnellsburg at 717-485-3131.

Teen Accused Of Drug Possession

A 17-year-old male was found in possession of illegal drugs at Forbes Road Junior/Senior High School on Wednesday, November 6. The drugs were found in the student’s book bag inside his locker at 10:15 a.m. Charges against the teen will be filed through Fulton County Juvenile Probation.

Theft Reported At Construction Site

Pennsylvania State Police in McConnellsburg recently investigated a theft at a construction site along Fulton Drive in Ayr Township.

According to reports, large commercial-grade batteries were removed from an off-road dump truck and a well driller between 4 p.m. on October 18 and 6:30 a.m. on October 21. Police said the thieves also moved a front loader that was parked at the entrance across from Tri- State Community Health Center during the incident. Victim in this case is Veon Co.

Satchel Stolen

A leather satchel was stolen from a vehicle parked at 103 East Patterson Street in Todd Township between 3 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. on October 22. Victim is a McConnellsburg man. Anyone with additional information concerning this incident is urged to call state police Trooper Miller at 717-485-3131.

Breezewood Man Cited In Crash

A 61-year- old Breezewood area resident was cited for careless driving in connection with a single-vehicle accident along South Valley Road, according to state police in McConnellsburg.

Dennis E. Snyder failed to negotiate a left-hand curve in the Brush Creek Township roadway on Saturday, October 26, just north of the intersection of Old 126. Snyder’s southbound 2003 Pontiac Grand Am struck an embankment, crossed both lanes of travel and became stuck in a ditch along the eastern berm.

The car was removed from the 9:39 a.m. scene by Interstate Towing. Snyder was wearing a seat belt and was not injured.

Warfordsburg Man Accused Of Stealing Truck

Pennsylvania State Police in McConnellsburg have charged 27-year- old Warfordsburg resident James Robert Dykstra with theft by unlawful taking and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. Dykstra allegedly stole a truck belonging to a 34- year- old male on Wednesday, November 6. The vehicle was parked at 495 Bethel Church Road when it was allegedly stolen at 8:30 a.m.

Harrisonville Woman Arrested For DUI

A 28-year-old Harrisonville resident was arrested for driving under the influence and possession of a small amount of marijuana following a traffic stop near the intersection of Lincoln Highway and Sipes Mill Road.

According to state police, Ashley Mae Johnson was stopped by troopers for a traffic violation at 10:50 p.m. on Wednesday, November 6. During the stop, indicators of drug use were observed, police alleged. A follow-up consent search of the vehicle revealed marijuana.

Johnson will be charged through the office of Magisterial District Judge Devin Horne.

Truck Strikes Deer

Asouthbound 1997 Dodge Dakota struck a white-tailed deer along Thompson Road on Sunday, November 10, state police reported. The 10:46 a.m. accident occurred just south of the intersection of James Lane. Police did not release the identity of the driver or indicate if the individual was injured.

DUI Charges Filed

A Crystal Spring man was arrested last month for driving under the influence along Lincoln Way West near the intersection of Lincoln Highway.

According to state police, 51-year-old Wilmer J. Fowler was placed under arrest for driving under the influence of a controlled substance on October 29 at 5:41 p.m. He was transported to Fulton County Medical Center where blood testing was conducted. Police added Fowler was also found to have several active warrants for his arrest.

Pills Stolen

Multiple prescription pills were stolen from 229 Myers Road in Thompson Township between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. on Sunday, November 10. Victim is a 35-year-old Needmore woman. Anyone having further information linked to this case should contact state police Trooper Garner at 717-485-3131.

Mischief Reported

A 36-year- old McConnellsburg man reported to state police investigators he was the victim of criminal mischief on November 10. Between 4:30 p.m. and 8:45 p.m., an unknown individual damaged door trim at the 108 North Third Street residence in McConnellsburg Borough. Anyone with information concerning this incident is asked to call state police Trooper Miller at 717- 485-3131.
