The Forbes Road School District Board of Directors dealt with personnel items, some in a 45- minute executive session, at its regular board meeting last Monday evening.

The personnel agenda included the approval of tenure for Scott Bollman, the hiring of Emily Brown as a substitute math teacher for the remainder of the school year at a per-diem rate of a first-year teacher with no benefits and added Patricia Hawbaker as a food service substitute.

The board also approved adding Ross Walters as a driver for Tawnie House and added Jennifer Buterbaugh, Daniel Leese and Tammy Sample to the teacher substitute list. All three are Tuscarora

IU emergency certified.

The board accepted the resignation of Andrew Ditty as junior varsity girls basketball coach, and he will remain on staff with the boys and girls basketball programs as an unpaid coach for the coming season.

Extracurricular positions filled included: Jordan Speck as junior varsity girls basketball coach at $1,900 for year one; Brown Cutchall as assistant softball coach at $1,900 for year five; Scott Bollman as basketball assistant coach – unpaid; and Andrew Ditty as basketball assistant coach – unpaid.

During the public comments opportunity at the beginning of the board meeting, Robert Oliver asked if the board would allow his wife to keep her personal and sick leave days, and Christina Zeger also questioned if she would be permitted to keep her days or get paid for unused sick leave. Following an executive session, Deb Oliver was hired as a temporary, four-hour-per-day cafeteria worker through the end of the current school year. It was also decided that her sick leave days would be recognized with the understanding that each day is equal to a four-hour shift.

Under miscellaneous items, the board voted to add a school bus stop sign at the Betty Oakman home on Frick Road, Harrisonville. A request from the Fulton County Family Partnership for use of the old high school library and one classroom for Early Head Start and socialization and meetings on an ongoing basis was approved.

The board also approved a request from a second-grade teacher for a field trip to Lincoln Caverns on May 9, 2014, at no cost to the district.

The next regular meeting will be held on December 9, 2013, at 7 p.m.
