Panel Discussion Representatives from local churches and religious organizations will serve as members of a panel that will discuss “Faith and the Environment” Wednesday, November 20, at 7 p.m. in the community room of Fulton County Library. All are invited to attend.

Special Services Needmore Seventh-day Adventist Church invites all who would like to join in for a special time of worship, celebration and praise Saturday, November 23. The three senior officers of our 20 million member World Church will be leading out. At 9.20 a.m. services will commence with music, then mission reports by Treasurer Pastor Robert Lemon and Bible study by Secretary Pastor G.T. Ng. At 11 a.m. a message will be shared by the church’s world president, Pastor Ted Wilson. Following the church service, all guests are invited to enjoy a meal that will be prepared for them. The church is located in the village of Needmore at the intersection of U.S. 522 and PA 655.

Christmas Celebration A community Christmas celebration will be held Friday, December 6, at 6 p.m., in Akersville Church. Snowdate is Friday, December 13. Akersville Church is located in Brush Creek Township on PA 915. The event is free of charge. Baked goods are welcome. Craft Show The Shade Gap winter craft show will be held November 23, between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., and November 24, between noon and 4 p.m., at Shade Gap Auxiliary building and next door at the Dublin Township municipal building.

Open Stage Hustontown Area Volunteer Co. will hold an open stage November 23, beginning at 6 p.m. Kitchen opens at 5 p.m.

Open Mic Night Open mic night will be held at Hancock Performing Arts Center Friday, November 15, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Open Mic Night Needmore Volunteer Fire Co. will host open mic night Saturday, November 23, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Doors open at 4 p.m.

Shooting Match Hustontown Area Volunteer Fire Co. will hold a shooting match Saturday, November 16, at 1 p.m. Sign-in at noon. Shells will be furnished and prizes awarded. A special round for a Thanksgiving meal box will be held.

X Card Shoots Fulton County Pistol & Rifle Club X card shoots will run every Friday night until November 22. Kitchen will be open.

New York City Trip Modern Woodmen of America Camp 7948 will sponsor a bus trip to New York City Saturday, December 21. The bus departs From McConnellsburg Courthouse at 6 a.m. A stop will be made for breakfast at approximately at 11:30 a.m. Depart New York City near 9th Avenue between 44th and 45th streets at 6:15 p.m. A stop will be made halfway home for supper. Estimated arrival back in Mc- Connellsburg is 12:15 a.m. Cost for transportation and buffet breakfast is $50 for adults and children under 12 $45. Mic/Jam Night McConnellsburg Alumni & Friends Association will host a Mic and Jam Night Saturday, November 16, 2013. The alumni gym will open at 4 p.m., with music starting at 5p.m. Feature band will be “Silver Creek Band.” All ages are invited to come and listen, dance and enjoy a night out. Adult Indoor Soccer League The alumni gym will sponsor an adult indoor soccer league starting Friday, November 22, at 7 p.m. Anyone wishing to play should show up. The first night will go over rules and regulations, registration and develop teams. Come as an individual or come as team. If enough there will be a league. New York City Trip Modern Woodmen will sponsor a “day on your own” bus trip Saturday, December 7, to New York City. Leave McConnellsburg at 6 a.m. and home around 11:30 p.m. Cost is $50 per person. Shoebox Collection Needmore Bible Church will be collecting shoeboxes again this year for Operation Christmas Child. The church located at 6939 Great Cove Road, Needmore, will accept drop-offs beginning, Monday, November 18, between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Additional drop-off days include November 19, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; November 20, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; November 21, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; November 22, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; November 23, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; and November 24, 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Toy Donation Christmas Wish List toy donation, in loving memory of Kay Seville, to benefit Hershey Medical Center Children’s Oncology, is being held. Drop off items at Harryman Brothers True Value in McConnellsburg.

Parenting Courses McConnellsburg United Presbyterian Church and Fulton County Family Partnership are offering a series of free parenting groups open to the community November 21 and December 5, at McConnellsburg United Presbyterian Church, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Childcare provided. Operation Christmas Child Operation Christmas Child shoe boxes, sponsored annually by Samaritan’s Purse, will be collected at My Father’s House Minsitries, located at 1635 Lincoln Way West, McConnellsburg, during the week of November 18-25. Community Wellness/Silver Sneakers/Prime Community Wellness/Silver Sneakers/Prime will be held Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, from 6 a.m. to 7 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., and Wednesday and Friday, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., at Fulton County Medical Center cardiopulmonary rehab gym. Free Blood Pressure Screenings Free blood pressure screenings will be given at the following locations: Mc- Connellsburg Senior Center – the first Thursday of every month from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.; Hann’s Apartments – the first Thursday of every month from 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.; Warfordsburg Senior Center – the first Tuesday of every month from 11 a.m. to noon; and Hustontown Senior Center – the third Thursday of every month from 11 a.m. to noon and Mt. View Apartments – second Tuesday monthly 11 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

McConnellsburg AA Meetings The McConnellsburg Chapter of Alcoholics Anonymous will meet on Wednesdays at 7 p.m. every week at the Alumni Building Basement, McConnellsburg.

Veterans Assistance Dan McIntyre, assistant state service office of Veterans of Foreign Wars, will be at McConnellsburg VFW to assist veterans with service-connected disability claims. Thanksgiving Dinner Needmore Bible Church family would like to extend an invitation to all to join in for Thanksgiving dinner November 28 at noon. Ham Potpie Supper Ham potpie supper will be held November 16 at Warfordsburg Presbyterian Church Faith Center from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Proceeds benefit the local deacon mission. Donations accepted. Entertainment will be by Harmony Hill Singers.

Thanksgiving Pie Sale The Family Life Committee will sponsor a Grandma Ann’s Thanksgiving apple and cherry pie sale Saturday, November 23. Cost of the pies are $8 for plain and $9 for crumb. To place an order call 485-5917.

Free Military Meal A free meal for all veterans and uniformed personnel will be held November 16, at 5 p.m., at Calvary Independent Baptist Church, 140 McGoverns Lane, Mc- Connellsburg. Special speaker will be Doug Carragher.

Library Teen Meal Fulton County Library Teen Advisory Board will meet Friday, November 22, beginning at 6 p.m., for a sit-down style Thanksgiving meal. All teens planning to attend are asked to bring a covered dish. A sign-up sheet for the event is located at the front desk of the Fulton County Library. All teens between the ages of 13 and 19 are welcome to participate.

Hunter’s Potpie Dinner There will be an all-you-can-eat hunter’s ham potpie dinner at Artemas American Legion on Big Creek Road Tuesday, December 3. Serving will begin at 4 p.m. until gone. Takeouts available. Dinner will include drinks and desserts. Donations accepted. Everyone is welcome (even non-hunters). Enjoy a home-cooked meal after a hard day of hunting. All proceeds benefit VFW Post 155 Artemas.

Food Auction Hustontown Area Volunteer Fire Co. will hold a food auction Saturday, November 16, beginning at 2 p.m. Kitchen opens at noon. Vendor is Mike Sullivan. Frozen foods, snacks and miscellaneous items will be auctioned.

Hunters Helping Kids Banquet Mason-Dixon Hunters Helping Kids annual banquet will be held November 22 at Hustontown Firehall. Doors open at 5 p.m., with light snacks served until the meal at 7 p.m. This will be the time to look at auction items and silent auctions. The auction will be after the meal. Relay For Life Meeting The first committee meeting for the American Cancer Society 2014 Relay For Life of Fulton County will take place at 7 p.m. Tuesday, November 26, in the Pearl Room, second floor, Fulton County Medical Center. All past, current and interested potential team and committee members are encouraged to attend. Now is an excellent time – the100th birthday year of the Cancer Society – to get involved in the Relay For Life as a volunteer, team captain or participant, and make a difference this century in the fight against cancer. Shooting Club Meeting The monthly 4-H Shooting Club meeting will be held Thursday, November 21, at Fulton County Rifle & Pistol Club at 6:30 p.m. All members and any youths interested are urged to attend.

Garden Club Meeting North End Garden Club will meet Tuesday, November 19, at 11 a.m., at the home of Donna Sain, 115 North First Street, McConnellsburg. Christmas swags for Leisure Living Retirement Home and a decoration to take home will be made. Pecans ($9/lb.) may be picked up. P.O.W.E.R. Meetings P.O.W.E.R. (Parents Offering Wisdom, Education and Release) will meet on the following dates: December 9, January 13 and 27 and February 20 and 24. The goal of the group is to support and educate the community, the addict and the families of addicts to the issues and problems that can occur when dealing with addicts and their recovery programs. Emotional and possible financial support are also offered to any individual who might need it to successfully overcome an addiction. The meeting is held at 292 Buchanan Trail. Sportsmen’s League Meeting Fulton County Sportsmen’s League will meet at 7:30 p.m. in the stone house at the trout nursery November 15. Fulton County Sportsmen’s League will meet the third Friday of each month except July and August. Mark calendars and attend each meeting to share input. Officers and board members for 2014 will be nominated. The drawing for the fall raffle will be held at the conclusion of the meeting.

Friends Of Meadow Grounds Meeting Friends of Meadow Grounds Lake holds a monthly meeting on the fourth Monday of every month except December at 6 p.m. at Community State Bank at 415 Fulton Drive (runs from the Giant to Cito Road). The public is invited to attend and contribute.


Cash Bingo Cash bingo will be held Sunday, November 24, at Hustontown Firehall. Doors open at noon with bingo at 2 p.m. There will be 20 games of bingo with cash prizes. There will also be door prizes, small games of chance and refreshments. Tickets are $20 each and may be purchased by contacting Forbes Road High School Drama Club at 814-685-3866, Ext. 1111, or by e-mailing lbeegle@frsd.info. Tickets may also be purchased at the door on the day of the event.
