Horace B. Tatem Jr. Middletown, 71
Horace B. “Sonny” Tatem Jr., 71, of Middletown, died Saturday, November 2, 2013, after a long illness.
He was born January 6, 1942, in Harrisburg, and was the son of the late Horace B. Sr. and Martha Manfred Tatem.
He was a retired steel fabricator for the former Bethlehem Steel Co., Steelton, with 30 years of service. He enjoyed hunting, sports and yard sales. He was an avid HAM radio operator.
He was a United States Navy veteran and was privileged to have marched in President Kennedy’s inaugural parade and was involved during the Cuban Blockade.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Shirley E. Lowery Tatem; two sons: Christopher A. Tatem of Elizabethtown, and Timothy A. Tatem Sr. of Middletown; a brother, Gerald E., and wife Martha Tatem of Dillsburg; six sisters: Mary C. wife of Frank Houser; Dorothy M. wife of Ronald Winters; twin sister, Evelyn M. O’Donnell (widow of Robert), Darlene M., wife of Charles Hemperly, and Cindy L., wife of David Lines all of Middletown; Kay L., wife of Ralph Balchunas of Bainbridge; four grandchildren: Travis and Brittany of Elizabethtown, and Timothy A. Jr. and Tiffany of Middletown; and a great-grandson, Brantley of Middletown.
At the request of Sonny there will be no services, and interment will be at the convenience of the family.
