Grover M. Souders McConnellsburg, 79

Grover M. Souders, 79, McConnellsburg, died Friday, November 1, 2012, at Chambersburg Hospital.

He was born November 12, 1933, in McConnellsburg, Pa., the son of the late Claude and Goldie (Cooper) Souders. He was married to Joanne Kerlin Souders on June 2, 1956.

He served in the United States Air Force until being honorably discharged in 1951.

He worked for 37 years at Grove Manufacturing until his retirement in 1999.

He attended Cito United Methodist Church in Mc- Con-nellsburg. He enjoyed spending time in the outdoors, hunting, fishing or working with wood. He was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather and greatgrandfather.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Joanne Souders of McConnellsburg; one son, Philip (husband of Robin) Souders of McConnellsburg; two daughters: Elaina (wife of Dennis) Swope of Big Cove Tannery, and Deena (wife of Kevin) Mellott of Chambersburg; seven grandchildren: Christie, Chad, Heidi, Gretchen, Carly, Mackenna and Ciarra; and nine great- grandchildren:( Brady, Katie, Jesse, Logan, Lariah, Charlotte, Callen, Brylee and Hutson); three brothers: Jay Souders of Dublin Mills; Lyle Souders of Warfordsburg; and Edgar Souders of Welsh Run, Pa.; two sisters: Betty Hoffman and Alice Strait, both of Mc- Connellsburg; one half sister, Patricia Hazlin of Atlanta, Ga.; one stepsister, Rosaline Carbaugh of Mc- Connellsburg; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers: Ray, Melvin “ Tom” Souders, Calvin Souders and Blair Souders; three sisters: Faye Knepper, Edna Sipes and Helene Schetrompf; his stepmother, Ann Souders; one stepbrother, Carl Urban; and a half-brother, Jerry Souders.

Funeral services were held 11 a.m., Tuesday, November 5, 2013, at Cito United Methodist Church in Mc- Connellsburg. Interment was at Union Cemetery. Rev. John Godissart officiated.
