A 3 Vs 3 Indoor Soccer MVP Tourney was held at the alumni community building Sunday, November 3, 2013, as a fundraiser to benefit Shaun Stambaugh. Shaun was diagnosed with nodular lymphocyte predominant Hodgkin’s lymphoma (NLPHL) in August of 2013. NLPHL is a type of Hodgkin’s disease, a cancer of lymph cells. It is one of the less frequent types of Hodgkin’s disease, comprising about 5 percent of all cases of this cancer. Treatment of NLPHL includes chem- otherapy. Shaun has currently undergone two of six chemo treatments.

First place in the MVP tournament, with 22 points, was Wyatt Pine, son of Beverly and Merle Pine of Mercersburg, and second place with 21 points went to Jackson Skiles, son of Tasha and Dwight Skiles of Mc- Connellsburg.

A soccer radar challenge was also held. This is where the individual tries to kick the ball as hard as they can and a radar gun tells us what speed the ball was kicked. Results are as follows:

U6: George Richards; U-8: Wyatt Hershey; U-10: Libby Skiles; U-14: Derek Pine; U-18: Hunter Souders; and adult division: Jeff Glenn. After a great day of fun, the kids young and old, presented Shaun with $750 to help with his medical expenses and show their support.
