Christmas Celebration A community Christmas celebration will be held Friday, December 6, at 6 p.m., in Akersville Church. Snowdate is Friday, December 13. Akersville Church is located in Brush Creek Township on PA 915. The event is free of charge. Baked goods are welcome. Craft Show The Shade Gap winter craft show will be held November 23, between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., and November 24, between noon and 4 p.m., at Shade Gap Auxiliary building and next door at the Dublin Township municipal building.

Open Stage Hustontown Area Volunteer Co. will hold an open stage November 23, beginning at 6 p.m. Kitchen opens at 5 p.m.

Celebration of Veterans The United Methodist churches of McConnellsburg would like to celebrate our nation’s heroes. On Saturday, November 9, all Fulton County veterans and one guest are invited to an evening of celebration, patriotism and remembrance. McConnellsburg/Cito United Methodist churches will sponsor a ham dinner at the Fulton Theater. Veterans will gather at 5:30 p.m. for dinner at 6 p.m., followed by a performance of “The Home of the Brave.” This musical presentation recounts the nation’s history and honors those who sacrificed to preserve freedom.To make a reservation, please call 485-4815 and select option #1 followed by option #2 for the church office by Friday, November 1. The event is totally free, a gift to veterans.

Open Mic Night Open mic night will be held at Hancock Performing Arts Center Friday, November 15, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Mic Night Mic night will be held at Warfordsburg Senior Center November 9 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Kitchen opens at 4 p.m. Food and drink will be available. Donation is a $1. Everyone is welcome. For more information call 717-294-6020.

Open Mic Night Needmore Volunteer Fire Co. will host open mic night Saturday, November 23, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Doors open at 4 p.m.

Hustontown Area Volunteer Fire Co. will hold a shooting match Saturday, November 16, at 1 p.m. Sign-in at noon. Shells will be furnished and prizes awarded. A special round for a Thanksgiving meal box will be held.

X Card Shoots Fulton County Pistol & Rifle Club X card shoots will run every Friday night until November 22. Kitchen will be open.

New York City Trip Modern Woodmen of America Camp 7948 will sponsor a bus trip to New York City Saturday, December 21. The bus departs From McConnellsburg Courthouse at 6 a.m. A stop will be made for breakfast at approximately at 11:30 a.m. Depart New York City near 9th Avenue between 44th and 45th streets at 6:15 p.m. A stop will be made halfway home for supper. Estimated arrival back in Mc- Connellsburg is 12:15 a.m. Cost for transportation and buffet breakfast is $50 for adults and children under 12 $45. New York City Trip Modern Woodmen will sponsor a “day on your own” bus trip Saturday, December 7, to New York City. Leave McConnellsburg at 6 a.m. and home around 11:30 p.m. Cost is $50 per person. SF Pre-K Program Anyone residing in the Southern Fulton School District and is interested in having their child participate in a pre-K program (4-year-old) or before/after school childcare, please complete the interest surveys located on the Southern Fulton School District Web site at www.sfsd.k12.pa.us by November 22, 2013. Shoebox Collection Needmore Bible Church will be collecting shoeboxes again this year for Operation Christmas Child. The church located at 6939 Great Cove Road, Needmore, will accept drop-offs beginning, Monday, November 18, between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Additional drop-off days include November 19, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; November 20, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; November 21, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; November 22, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; November 23, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; and November 24, 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Parenting Courses McConnellsburg United Presbyterian Church and Fulton County Family Partnership are offering a series of free parenting groups open to the community November 7 and 21 and December 5, at McConnellsburg United Presbyterian Church, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Childcare provided. Operation Christmas Child Operation Christmas Child shoe boxes, sponsored annually by Samaritan’s Purse, will be collected at My Father’s House Minsitries, located at 1635 Lincoln Way West, McConnellsburg, during the week of November 18-25. Free Flu Immunizations Free flu immunizations for Fulton County residents will be held November 8 at McConnellsburg Senior Center from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.; November 12 at Warfordsburg Senior Center from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., and November 12 at Hustontown Senior Center from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Vaccines are available to Fulton County residents 18 years and older.

Alzheimer’s/Dementia Support Group Alzheimer’s/ dementia support group meets the third Tuesday monthly at 6:30 p.m. in Fulton County Medical Center, Pearl Room. More information may be obtained by calling 717-485-6108.

Community Wellness/Silver Sneakers/Prime Community Wellness/Silver Sneakers/Prime will be held Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, from 6 a.m. to 7 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., and Wednesday and Friday, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., at Fulton County Medical Center cardiopulmonary rehab gym. Yoga Classes Reaching Wellness yoga classes will be held for all ages every Wednesday, 4:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., at Community State Bank. Call for cost and to register at 717-485- 4492.

Free Blood Pressure Screenings Free blood pressure screenings will be given at the following locations: Mc- Connellsburg Senior Center the first Thursday of every month from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.; Hann’s Apartments the first Thursday of every month from 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.; Warfordsburg Senior Center the first Tuesday of every month from 11 a.m. to noon; and Hustontown Senior Center the third Thursday of every month from 11 a.m. to noon.

McConnellsburg AA Meetings The McConnellsburg Chapter of Alcoholics Anonymous will meet on Wednesdays at 7 p.m. every week at the Alumni Building Basement, McConnellsburg.

Veterans Assistance Dan McIntyre, assistant state service office of Veterans of Foreign Wars, will be at McConnellsburg VFW to assist veterans with service-connected disability claims. Spaghetti Dinner A spaghetti dinner will be held Saturday, November 9, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., at Buck Valley Christian Church, 2281 Harmonia Road, Buck Valley. Menu includes spaghetti, garlic bread, tossed salad, fruit cup, dessert and beverage. Cost is $5 for adults, $3 for children 5-12 and under 5 is free and $20 per family. Proceeds and donations go to Hagerstown Rescue Mission.

Ham Potpie Supper Ham potpie supper will be held November 16 at Warfordsburg Presbyterian Church Faith Center from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Proceeds benefit the local deacon mission. Donations accepted. Entertainment will be by Harmony Hill Singers.

Thanksgiving Pie Sale The Family Life Committee will sponsor a Grandma Ann’s Thanksgiving apple and cherry pie sale Saturday, November 23. Cost of the pies are $8 for plain and $9 for crumb. To place an order call 485-5917.

Spaghetti Supper A free spaghetti supper will be held November 12 at Asbury United Methodist Church, 7404 Lincoln Highway, Harrisonville, from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Spaghetti, salad, dessert and beverage will be served. Everyone is welcome.

Turkey Dinner Shade Gap Fire Co. auxiliary will hold its annual turkey dinner Saturday, November 9, at 4 p.m. at the auxiliary building. Cost is adults $9, children 5-10 $4.50 and under 5 are free. Takeouts available. Proceeds benefit Shade gap Fire Co. auxiliary.

Free Military Meal A free meal for all veterans and uniformed personnel will be held November 16, at 5 p.m., at Calvary Independent Baptist Church, 140 McGoverns Lane, Mc- Connellsburg. Special speaker will be Doug Carragher.

Food Auction Hustontown Area Volunteer Fire Co. will hold a food auction Saturday, November 16, beginning at 2 p.m. Kitchen opens at noon. Vendor is Mike Sullivan. Frozen foods, snacks and miscellaneous items will be auctioned.

Fall Dinner A fall dinner, including a pig roast, chicken soup, ice cream and more, will be held Sunday, November 10, at noon, at Walnut Grove Church of God building, 22842 Wible Reunion Road, Three Springs. Cost is by donation. Auction to follow dinner including baked goods, regular and silent auction items. Special Veterans Day program at 10:30 a.m. at the church with dinner to follow. All are welcome to join in for one or both.

Hunters Helping Kids Banquet Mason-Dixon Hunters Helping Kids annual banquet will be held November 22 at Hustontown Firehall. Doors open at 5 p.m., with light snacks served until the meal at 7 p.m. This will be the time to look at auction items and silent auctions. The auction will be after the meal. Guns and the last two prints of Mark Twin Noe will be auctioned off. Cost is adults $10 and kids under 12 $7. More information may be obtained by calling Troy or Bonnie Miller at 717-485-5529.

Free Meal A free meal will be served the second Tuesday of each month at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 220 North Third Street. Please join in for good fellowship.

Garden Club Meeting North End Garden Club will meet Tuesday, November 19, at 11 a.m., at the home of Donna Sain, 115 North First Street, McConnellsburg. Christmas swags for Leisure Living Retirement Home and a decoration to take home will be made. Pecans ($9/lb.) may be picked up. P.O.W.E.R. Meetings P.O.W.E.R. (Parents Offering Wisdom, Education and Release) will meet on the following dates: November 11, December 9, January 13 and 27 and February 20 and 24. The goal of the group is to support and educate the community, the addict and the families of addicts to the issues and problems that can occur when dealing with addicts and their recovery programs. Emotional and possible financial support are also offered to any individual who might need it to successfully overcome an addiction. The meeting is held at 292 Buchanan Trail. Sportsmen’s League Meeting Fulton County Sportsmen’s League will meet at 7:30 p.m. in the stone house at the trout nursery November 15. Fulton County Sportsmen’s League will meet the third Friday of each month except July and August. Mark calendars and attend each meeting to share input. Officers and board members for 2014 will be nominated. The drawing for the fall raffle will be held at the conclusion of the meeting.

Farm Women Meeting Fulton County Society of Farm Women will meet at the home of Betty Palmer November 7 at 7 p.m. This will be the annual bake and craft sale.

Friends Of Meadow Grounds Meeting Friends of Meadow Grounds Lake holds a monthly meeting on the fourth Monday of every month except December at 6 p.m. at Community State Bank at 415 Fulton Drive (runs from the Giant to Cito Road). The public is invited to attend and contribute.

PASR Meeting To all school retirees, mark your calendars. Fulton Fall PASR meeting will be held at Hustontown Firehall the morning of November 12. Registration starts at 9 a.m. The speaker, Ken Keebaugh, will talk about the one-room schools in the county. All are invited to bring items for the raffle to support the scholarship fund. Monetary donations for the Food Basket are also welcome. A delicious meal is planned with chicken and ham for only $10.50.
