Mary Ann Smith, 70, Berkeley Springs, W.Va., formerly of Hancock, died on Monday, October 21, 2013, in Hedgesville, W.Va.
Born May 10, 1943 in Washington County Hospital in Hagerstown, Md., she was the daughter of the late Howard Lee and Lauressa Mae Pierce Dickey.
She was of the Protestant faith.
She attended public schools in Clear Spring, Md. She had worked as a cook at Hardees in Hancock and also at McDonald’s in both Clear Spring and Hagerstown. She was an animal lover, especially cats, and enjoyed needlepoint and crafts.
She is survived by her daughter, Leslie Ann Smith, and her fiancé, John Lee Byington, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; one sister, Sue Dickey Brown of Hagerstown; four brothers: Oscar Dickey of Mercersburg; Larry Dickey of Big Pool, Md.; Wayne Dickey of Needmore; Donald Dickey of Berkeley Springs; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Cyrus William “Bob” Smith, and one sister, Darlene Dickey Breeden.
Graveside services were held at 3 p.m. Thursday, October 24, 2013, at Parkhead Church Cemetery, Big Pool, Md. Rev. Michael Leedom officiated.
