Robert K. Stevens Sr., 76


Robert “Bob” K. Stevens Sr., 76, Needmore, died Sunday, October 20, 2013, at his residence.

He was born in Belfast Township, Fulton County, Pa., August 4, 1937, the son of the late Charles R. and Mildred P. (Carnell) Stevens. He was the husband of Verna M. (Shank) Stevens, whom he married on September 1, 1961.

He was a member of Pleasant Ridge Church of the Brethren, Needmore. In his younger years he worked for the Mellott family logging timber. He also served with the Army National Guard, in a tank battalion for eight years. He later went on to work for the Pennsylvania Turnpike as an equipment supervisor. He was a very skilled, self-taught mechanic and carpenter. Over the years, from his shop located on Timber Ridge, many people benefited from his workmanship and knowledge. There wasn’t anything that he could not build or repair and he always loved the challenge.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Donna J. Hull (fiancée of Rex Divelbliss) of Hancock; son Robert “ Rob” K. Stevens Jr.(Husband of Lacie) of Needmore; a sister, Mary Mellott of Baltimore, and a sister, Daisy Stelk of Montgomery, Ala.; and three grandchildren: Dustin Hull of Hagerstown; Jenna Hull of Hancock; and Wyatt Stevens of Needmore.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Goldie Collins

Funeral services will be held at Pleasant Ridge Church of the Brethren, Needmore, at 11 a.m. on Thursday, October 24, with Pastor Roger Truax officiating. Interment will be at Pleasant Ridge Church of the Breth-ren Cemetery Needmore.

There will be visitation Wednesday, October 23, 2013, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home Inc., 873 Lincoln Way East, McConnellsburg. There will also be visitation held one hour before the service at the church on Thursday.Military honors will be conducted by the Fulton Honor Guard.
