Charles B. Sharar, 60
Charles B. “Chub” Sharar, 60, Mercersburg, died Monday, October 21, 2013, at the Chambersburg Hospital.
Born September 30, 1953, at Chambersburg, he was a son of Eileen Pittman Sharar of Mercersburg and the late Charles E. Sharar.
He had worked for the past three years at Valk Manufacturing of Carlisle. He previously worked as a mason. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, NASCAR and was an avid car mechanic.
He was a member of American Legion Post #517 of Mercersburg.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Delores K. Gordon Sharar, whom he married March 17, 1973; a daughter, Vera M., and husband Michael Shields of Fayetteville; a son, Donald P. Sharar of Mercersburg; grandmother, Catherine Lynch Pittman of Chambersburg; grandchildren: Brandon, Lauren, Karli, Shania, Brady and Kylee; and great-grandchildren: Keaton and Aleahh; sisters: Joyce Wilson of Hustontown; Sherry Sharar of Chambersburg; Loretta Irvin of McConnellsburg; Mary Grace Gsell of Greencastle; and a brother, Merle Sharar Sr. of Mount Union.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, October 25, 2013, at Clayton Memorial Church of God, Mercersburg, with Pastors Marcus Abernethy and James Hodges officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery, Mercersburg. Viewing will be from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., Thursday, October 24, at Lininger- Fries Funeral Home Inc., Mercersburg, and one hour prior to the service Friday at the church.
