Mellott Takes Home District 5 Tennis Title

McConnellsburg freshman Bronwyne Mellott made a big impression during her very first appearance in District 5 action last Tuesday, becoming the first-ever winner to represent Fulton County. Finishing with top honors in the girls singles championships at Bedford Middle School, Mellott won a total of four matches and knocked off the district’s number-one-seeded player, Allison Shuke, as well as number-two- seeded Jen Carthew of Chestnut Ridge. Mellott’s efforts earned her not only the District 5 title but a spot in the PIAA Class AA singles championships to be held November 1 in Hershey. She is the daughter of Howard and Karla Mellott of Harrisonville.
