Marvin O. Sipes
Marvin O. Sipes, 84, of Mc- Connellsburg, died Saturday, October 12, 2013, at the Fulton County Medical Center Long-Term Care Unit, Mc- Connellsburg.
He was born in Hustontown, May 19, 1929, the son of the late Maurice and Faitha (Oakman) Sipes. He was the husband of Hazel M. (Mellott) Sipes, whom he married on June 5, 1954.
He worked as a optical repairman at Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg, and then at the Forbes Road High School as a custodian, before retiring in 1977. He was a member of Knobsville Church of the Brethren, Mc- Connellsburg. He enjoyed camping with his wife in their earlier years, especially in Potter County, Pa.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Maye Houck of Greencastle; Russell N. Sipes of Mc- Connellsburg; Lori A. Miller of Big Cove Tannery; a brother, Willis Sipes of McConnellsburg; and a brother, Quay Sipes of Greencastle; six grandchildren; and 11 greatgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Hilda Maye Hill; and three brothers: Norris Lee Sipes, James Sipes, and Edgar Sipes
Services will be held at Knobsville Church of the Brethren, McConnellsburg, at 11 a.m., Thursday, October 17, 2013, with Pastor Chris Elliott and Pastor Dick Bernhard officiating. Interment will be at Knobsville Cemetery.
There will be visitation on Wednesday, October 16, from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home Inc., McConnellsburg. There will also be one hour of visitation held before the service at the church.
