Sympathy goes out to the families of Marvin Sipes and Wayne Crouse who passed away and the family of Gwendolyn Thomas of Chambersburg who passed away recently.

Elizabeth “Lizzy” Spriggs celebrated her 79th birthday on Saturday, Ocober 5, at McConnellsburg VFW with family and friends from all over the state attending. They enjoyed good food and refreshments and a live band from Philadelphia provided the music. Her party was given by her cousin, Diane Jefferson.

The singles group met on Monday with a lunch at Cowans Gap State Park and dessert at the Milky Way.

Don’t forget the good food and activities over the weekend at the Fulton Fall Folk Festival. Hopefully the weather will cooperate.

Sharon Mennonite Bible Institute Choir held a concert on Sunday at Dublin Mills Community Church.

Celebrating wedding anniversaries are Bradley and Sherry McClain, 25 years on October 21, and Mont and Reta Chamberlain on October 18.

Public Opinion weekly student-athletes from the area were McConnellsburg soccer player Sarrah Pollock and McConnellsburg tennis player Bronwyn Mellott.

Happy 97th birthday to Nellie Shaffer Brant. She would enjoy hearing from friends and relatives. Her address iss 555 North Fifth Street, McConnellsburg.

Public Opinion male athlete of the week was Shad Gordon of Southern Fulton who is goalkeeper for the soccer team. He recorded 49 saves and allowed just three goals. He is a senior and the son of Dennis and Angie Gordon.

Michael and Danielle Mc- Garvey Wagner and daughter Brook of Seattle, Wash., visited with relatives in the area including her greatgrandmother, Ruth Souders.

Darlene Gress of Mc- Connellsburg and Brad, Shelly and Kane Waite of Saltillo travelled to Kittanning, Pa., Sunday where Kane had an ice hockey game. He scored the tying goal for a score of 3-3. He also had a game on Saturday in Altoona where his team won 6-4. Kane scored two of the goals. He is 10 years old and plays for the Altoona Trackers.

Congratulations to Justin Younker and Jessica Ebersole who were married Saturday in Big Cove Tannery in an outdoor ceremony.
